I saw the demo of this game... I recently brought it in as well......

but I want to know, what are some of your opinions of this game?

I had the opportunity to play this with 3 of my friends, and I gotta say, it was pretty fun. The only downside is that you can't hop into multiplayer right away cuz you have to unlock all the different bots and weapons and such, but I have to say despite a poor presentation(by that I mean it doesn't look like it's good)it actually plays really well. Strategy is very important but if one player is better it's gonna show. My overall feeling was that it was a very well balanced game that requires some thought and strategy as well as twitch dodging and shooting.

Of course, it didn't compare to Four Swords, which my one friend and I played well into the night after we got bored of CR.

can you believe the custom robo got somewhere around a 6.5 rating at cube.ign.com

argh... frustrating... I cannot wait to crack this open!!

No, the strategic elements alone make this game at least a 7. I don't know how many times my friends and I had to alter our robots to better match each other's robots. You're constantly developing defences, and counters to whatever you're friends are doing, which makes for really fun battles and an assurance that someone will want a rematch.

I guess I never did play the single player, so perhaps that's why the rating is so low, but as for the multi, it's great fun.

IGN was stating that changing weapons...etc... didn't make a difference (that much) in strategy.... so it does make a difference then?

Definitely. I don't know what those guys were smokin when they played this game, but the weapons you choose greatly affect the way you're going to attack and defend. It's all about using a good combination of your guns, bombs, and pets(they're called pods but they are just pets). When you change one of these elements your style of fighting has to change accordingly. Some are long range, some are short, some slow, some fast, some heat-seeking, some not so. It's a game that's completely based around adaptation, at least when you play other human opponents.

so you all love this game then?

Is there anyone that doesn't like it?
what about the lasting appeal?

Well, there's a ton of weapons/bots to unlock and use, making for an enormous amount of combinations, and there is a noticeable change when using different robots and such so if you get bored with one robot you can always try playing a different style. As well there's a huge number of arenas you can fight in which can also help or hinder your strategy. I personally wouldn't buy it because of the limited gameplay. You can fight with many different combinations of robots and various fighting styles in loads of places, but that's still all you're doing, it will get boring. Multiplayer adds a load of replay value, but to me it would be a lot better just to rent it when you want to play with a bunch of friends.
