According to Capcom's Heiji Inafune who's working with both Dead Rising and Lost Planet, the game will take somewhere around two, possibly three hours to beat if you just stood still and didn't attempt any sidequests. Yes, you read that correctly.

This isn't good news. They say the game is intended to be played many times over....because your actions affect the ending. It is an open ended game, they say. But with multiplayer up in the air, this could turn out to be a game that regardless of how fun it is, its just too short.

Hopefully they add alot of cool extras if there is no MP (which would totally suck)

that would suck... but then again... it might be enough to be fun....

UN Squadron on the Snes was not that long... although I have YET to beat the friggin game because I cannot get past the last mountain base I think it was. That was hard as could be. I can blow through the rest of the game easily though!

Anyway, this game looks a little freaky :lol Cool looking stuff.

†B†V† :hat

Yeah, I know length doesn't always matter. Metal Slug 3 is 5 levels long and I still can't beat it. I'd imagine a skilled player could beat it in less than 2 hours.

But, in the next gen, I would like to know that I'm not paying $30 per hour for a game...But, this is Capcom, so hopefully they will have lots of extras. Maybe you have to play it to see it how the justified it. I'll still likely buy it, if it as a positive impact but it is no longer on my "buy ASAP" list.

While the game's staggeringly short length may surprise some, Capcom designed Dead Rising to be played through many, many times. The ultimate goal of the game is to discover the secret of the zombies and save as many people as possible, though you're in no way required to do so. Designed to be totally open-ended, Dead Rising allows you to investigate whatever you want, kill whoever you want and finish the game by completing whatever objectives you saw fit. Despite the hilarity of peppering innocent humans with shotgun blasts, you're not going to get the best ending without at least helping some of them. Many of the side quests yield information important to your investigation, and killing certain foes will be the only way to access areas you'll need to visit to get the answers you seek. Figuring out how to amass all the clues and get the best ending is the core gameplay mechanic of Dead Rising and what should keep you slaughtering zombies over and over again.

Sounds good to me. :D

That's not my only point. The open-ended gameplay being able to do whatever you want.

Starfox for N64 took what, 45 minutes to beat?

Check for speed runs online. Some games take almost no time at all to beat, if you rush through them.
