Neo Geo CD Did you know the neo geo cdz console doesnt play back-ups!

Hello i recieved my neo geo cdz console this morning and i tried to play my backup of metal slug 1 and it doesnt work i never knew the cdz console had a block against back-up games the old neo geo cd console [top loader] will play it fine!

Did you know that then?

I told you that when we talked a while back.

Back-ups aren't worth the plastic they are burnt on.
 
He apparently wants no worth to his collection...he has the CDZ up on ebay now...

I think thats sad...just because it will not play his pirated games he sells it...?

Is this true James?
 
That is strange..... I had a CDZ system some time ago, and it came with a few backup games, which worked fine.

The originals are not that expensive anyway?

I've heard people say CDZ will and I've heard will not...If I ever get one I'll test it out myself..but I have heard more people say they will not.

Its odd...some people claim that newer CDR games like Last Blade 2 will work fine...but the CDR back-ups I received in a crappy bundle deal will crash after about 15 minutes of play giving a i/o error or CD copy protection msg..

..Maybe its all in how you burn them..?

..meh..I dunno..don't care either CD games are cheap..why not just buy them?
 
I have 1 back up game that i burned to see if NeoCD had cd protection. it ra nthe game fine , but i really see no need in making back ups since the games are so cheap
 
I wrote a tutorial on how to crack the neo cd protection. Its at my website in the downloads section on the snk neo-geo page. Neo CDZ protection is but a memory...the cracks for every neo cd game are also in the tutorial.

Oh and I must agree, buy the originals for a nice collection, but play the backups so as not to scratch your collection. :) not all neo cd games are so cheap, Metal Slug USA version goes forover 100 bucks and Brikinger Iornclad goes for over 200 sometimes. :P
 
hey... as long as you own an original... you are entitled to 1 backup copy per original * I believe*

And as long as you own an original, I don't mind that anyone plays a backup of it. I just don't like when people use backups and don't have the original.... especially when NEo CD games are generally very cheap.
