Disc Drive Problem

Strubes

My disc drive opens..but all of a sudden it stopped reading discs...of course on my little sister's birthday when I was planning on burning her a cd. It worked fine before today. I'll put a disc in, and go to windows media player and it doesn't even acknowledge that a disc's even in it. It doesn't even try to load anything when I open and close it. Help would be much appreciated. :-[ :-\
 
I just had that problem, I just ended up removing it and putting in a new one....set me back $50 bucks though
I could have bought a game with that
 
I was having a similar problem, Strubes. Only with mine, it would either not read the disk and just lock up, or it would read it, play it and everything would be fine for a short while and then it would freeze up. A buddy of mine at work says it could be that the lense is dirty and needs to be cleaned. But I'm so fed up with mine that I'll end up replacing it and shooting the old one with my shot gun.

My guess is use the disk cleaners that you can use for CD players. That is unless they have special cleaners for CD-ROM drives.

@ Aleeock, nothing is more reliable than a single shot 12 guage!!
