DS helping Japanese Classrooms learn English!

Once i get caught up on my wii crap im going to try to learn Spanish with my DS.

But can I use it to help myself learn Japanese‽

I would seriously buy a game like that. I yelled at Jaded in a bagel shop this morning when we were going over our vocabulary for Tuesday's test. :-[

Summer session. Learning 16 weeks' worth of Japanese in 6 weeks is tough. :o

Ugh, that's why I NEVER go during the spring/summer semesters X__X

When I took my Japanese class last semester, the first thing we did is memorize Hiragana/Katakana, then each chapter in our book had different Vocabulary, and by the end of the class we had started learning Kanji.  We learned different verbs and how to conjugate them, sentence structure, and how to tell someone where an object/place is.  There was lots more too, but I don't really remember what all we covered. That was just one class though, and we only went through half of our book.  If you need help with things, seriously girl, ask me.

I've been trying to learn Japanese myself, I know the hiragana and some kanji and some phrases. I'm looking forward to taking a class in the spring at the local college. It sure is a difficult language to master. I don't suppose a game could do much in the way of teaching you a language, but it sure would be a useful way to drill and practice. I really keep hoping they'll come out with an english/japanese ds game.

edit: ooooh that game looks pretty neat! The only problem is that explanations and such will be in Japanese only.

Sweet. We're using Genki also. The workbook is awesome. Their website is also really helpful, Masako-sensei puts it up on the projector to teach stroke order and stuff for the hiragana and katakana.

Yeah, but because it's aimed at kids hopefully it wouldn't be too difficult to understand. They have one for kanji as well (http://www.jbox.com/PRODUCT/DS0405) that looks like it could be useful. I might order them both and try them out, for me it might help more than the textbook and making my own flashcards.
