Yeah about the Lunar: Dragon Song game...I absolutely LOVE Lunar games, so I was excited to get this one. Complete dissappointment.
Two major things that make it absolutely blow:
1) It's a traditional RPG, so it's turn based menu based combat...well...you can't pick the enemy your character attacks. It's random...so strategy is pretty much thrown completely out the window.
2) There's two different ways to battle: (I forgot the exact names they use for them)
a) First, there's a company called "Gad's Express" that your run errands for like deliveries and finding crap for and is really the only way to make money in the game. The first type of battle makes you fight through enemy after enemy only winning random items. No one enemy gives you a certain list of goods, and they don't give a certain amount of goods. You get NO, NONE, ZIP experience points for this, so you may fight 100 battles in order to complete one list from Gad's...but your character will not have gotten better at all.
b) Second, is clearing an entire section of a map under a certain time period. There will be from 5-8 enemies in one section and after you kill one, a timer starts. you have to kill another enemy before the timer makes it to zero or the last enenmy you killed respawns. You get experience from this, and if you clear all enemies in an area you have a chance of getting a decent item.
Lots and lots of time and patience is needed for this game. Weapons cost a rediculous amount of money, so you'll be working for hours to get items for the Gad's Express quest to buy one sword...and then you'll have to go back and fight for hours in order to actual level up.
Thumbs down in my book...I'm only keeping it to so I have an almost complete collection, hah.
