E3 05

Ok, so everyone pretty much knows the next E3 is gonna be about next gen consoles. But, I was wondering if anyone was still looking forward to anything else that Microsoft would be showing. Obviously I'm incredibly excited to see how Conker is coming along. I'm even more interested in seeing that than in seeing the next gen consoles (well, that is until I actually find out information about the next gen consoles). So, what are you guys looking forward to from the Microsoft booth this year at E3?

Pretty much just Half-Life 2, and Darkwatch (if it's not out by then) for XBOX.

I'm more looking forward to seeing if Perfect Dark Zero will ever come out and if they are going to revive True Fantasy Live Online for the XBOX 360. I'm also interested in whether or not the XBOX 360 will be backwards compatible.

Definitely. I really hope they have looked into it and finally decide to go backwards compatible.......that would be awesome.

So, whats Darkwatch? I havent heard anything about it.

i want to see what it looks like.. i think it is going to be mainly white.. reason being that i have seen picks of supposed nextbox controllers and they were white.. and i want to see how good the games look! im really convinced that sony is going to have to best console from reading up on the cell chip

Darkwatch does look intriguing (that's the game with the vampires and the cowboys right? :lol I can't believe that last statement was actually serious). I also want to see just where Microsoft sees videogames in the next 5 years. With all this talk of "revolution" its never been more important for companies to have a clear vision of where they're headed. Controllers, online, system specs, games. Its all up for grabs depending on what "philosophy" the company has. Even the frickin disc the game is on can sway your decision one way or the other.

And as Mai said, where the hell is PD0 anyway!?

I read in GamePro magazine that the newest chip developed for the PS3 is 4.7 GhZ, and that so far is faster than any PC so far. Maybe they might start makin games with decent graphics and unbelievable features and gameplay, and something that hasn't happened since the original PS, but maybe a game with 3 or 4 discs once again. And this time, were talkin about DVD roms. Not just normal 800 MB CD's

heck yes.. maybe ff 13 or something. but yeah the cell chip has like 8 different core proccessors or something like that.. so it can devote an incredible amount of whatever to certain things.. like madden.. it would give one to the announcers ( thank god ) so the accouncers wouldnt be so repeditive .. and one to the players and so on.. i just cant imagin what games are going to look like.. core clock speed of 4.7.. holy cow..

i think you gotta be involved buisness wise with games and such... like the folks on g4 tv.. and some of the big shots that run gamestop and so on.. but i think they let a few regular civilian gamers in every year.

No you still have to buy them. And the price depends from what company you come from I think. My friend knew another friend that worked at EB and he said that the tickets were $125 for all the days and $60 for one day.

im really having a hard time waiting for this guys.. .some therapy or consoling might be nice.. i want to see all the consoles now.. i v hered rumors of another console being there thats not from nintendo or micr or sony.. anyone else herd it?

My cousins own a LAN gaming shop in Ojai California, and they get to go to E3, its like, $500 a ticket, but if you own a business, its free, some E3's are press only, some are for business's and press, some is for all of general public, I guess it all just depends on the venue.

i forgot who the company was.. i think its name was like jaguar or something.. but it plugs into your phone line and you down load games to the systems hard drive and play them...

But do you realize how long it would take to make a 4 disc game in this day and age?

I'd rather have shorter games that take less time to develop. It was bad enough that Halo 2 took like 3 years and it ended up not being as good as Halo (IMO). And I'm still waiting for Perfect Dark Zero, which was supposed to be a launch title for XBOX, and now it's rumored to be an XBOX 360 launch title.

Also, if you work in the industry you can get into E3 for free, but all you get to see is the floor exhibits (no press conferences or workshops). You just have to prove that you work in the industry by sending in photocopies of your paystubs and tax forms. I work at GameStop, so that's how I get in. Since I went last year, I didn't even have to resend any info this year. They considered me an "E3 alumni" so I just had to confirm that my information from last year was still correct. I did that back in January or February. Today they are sending out all the badges to the people who registered early. :D

You can still get in without being in the industry, but you have to pay for it, and the cheapest package runs about $300+.

I plan on going all three days this year, so I will definitely let you guys know how it is. I'm going with a few friends who are also getting in free (two of them work at Wal-Mart, and another works at KayBee Toys). Sorry to say that I won't take requests on certain games, since I have my own agenda. But any games that I check out I will talk about. :)

You also got to remember that not all chips are rated the same. For instance a Mac computer has its fastest chip at 2.8 ghz. Now that might seem like only half the power of a 4.7 ghz chip but in reality its not because of the architecture of the chip. Its still not as fast as a 4.7 ghz chip but pretty close. It depends what kind of architecture of chip the PS3 is going to use because it cant use the same processors that home computer users use. So in reality it might not be as fast as the fastest PC out there. And With Sony using Blu-ray discs I dont think we will even see anymore two discs games for the PS again.

Actually I read the other day that Sony and Toshiba were going to work together on a next generation medium. They're going to work on combining blu ray discs with regular HD DVD's so that it will be compatible with existing DVD players, drives, etc.

Still though, it gonna have 30 gigs at least.
