Hi All!

Me and this guy that works at our local EbGames store were discussing games you in a combo pack(i.e. "GTA:III","Liberty Cities","San Andreas")

I got to thinking, why not make a combo pack of "FF 7","FF:8","FF9" (PS1).He says it probably wouldn't work because his store still gets around $29.99 for each title separately, therefore it would be costly because of that.Is this the same where you live?

God Bless,

Re: Does My Local "EB Games" Employee Have A Point About "Combo Packs"?

Yeah it's screwed up the value of the Metal Gear games since the triple pack came out as well. Same thing with the Devil May Cry & Resident Evil packs.

It won't be costly, because those are re-re-releases. So the value of those games won't be as high as the original.

Greatest Hits copy of FF7 is still worth less than FF7 Original black label copy.

Square has a habit of handing out nibbles rather than giving you the whole plate. Why FF fans are so grateful for any morsel that's parceled out from that pretentious, bloated franchise is beyond me.

Tactics games aside, of course. :p

Hi Addicts,

The local "EB Games" in my area charges harsh prices for their used games.

I was in there a while back, and I noticed that they have new copies of "The Godfather:Don's Edition" for the PS3 for $39.00.They also have used copies for $35,99!
What the hell kind of deal is that? :?

All the best,
KAZMAIER

Kaz how is this news Gamestop/EB games has been doing that for as long as I have been gaming man that's why I always look around to see if they have new copy. I think a better question is why can't there brain dead cashiers understand why I will gladly pay an extra 5 or 10 bucks to get a new copy that doesn't have teeth marks in or scratches that go half through the disc.

But you can also get $4 off on top of that $35.99 if you have the Edge card. So you save about $10 buying used. They also have a return policy if it's too scratched to play. It's not like if you buy a used game, you're stuck with it. That's the point of buying used; they have a better return policy.

Or, while you're still in the store, if you're buying used, ask if you can look at the disk.

That's what I do, I ask them to show me the copies of the game so that I can pick it myself if there are no new copies of the game. The ones at the store I go to don't have a problem with that at all.  Plus you really can save some money if you use the Edge card, and a majority of the time the disc isn't really bad at all.  If any scratches maybe a few hairline ones.

"EB GAMES" In MY Opinion,Insults Their Customer's Intelligence

Hi Members!

I checked the search box for this topic and I can't find a post of mine with respect to "EB GAMES".So here it goes.
I understand that this outfit is pretty fair with trade in values, but because of this, the customer gets absolutely very little of any real deal on most of the games.I've walked into "EB GAMES" to see a new game priced for $39,and the used version only $34.

What am I missing?
It's like their insulting their customers intelligence.Sure, the trade in value is nice, but that feeling goes away when you see a used title with only $3 or $4 priced below a new game.

God Bless,
Kaz

Re: "EB GAMES" In MY Opinion,Insults Their Customer's Intelligence

Do you mean their customers' intelligence? It is plural, right? They do have more than one customer.

And really, that comment could go in ANY EB GAMES post. I KNOW we have several threads on the topic.

Re: "EB GAMES" In MY Opinion,Insults Their Customer's Intelligence

@ Grind, they are probably just under GameStop instead of EB.

@ Kaz - it's kind of cute how you used EB instead of GameStop but they are the same company.

"Gamestops," as in stores with that actual name, don't exist in Canada. They are all called EB Games here. Unless you're a nerd like me, or you Mai :), you might not know that they are in fact the same company.

Game Stop does two things for me, really: They have games that I won't otherwise find anywhere else, and therefore are worth the cost, or they make me want to hunt down titles at second-hand stores. Either way it's a win-win for me.

They aren't really insulting, they are just using a business model that helps them a lot more than it helps the customers (IMO)

They're too good us.

Funny thing today. I went to Gamestop today to get Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition, check, also got the Megaman Anniversary Collection for Gamecube, check, also got Lunar Dragon Song for DS, check but, what I got when I got there was a huge surprise! A guy came into the store with his infant holding a Dreamcast, saying that his girlfriend got him it and it didn't have the cords for it. The clerk tells him we don't take them anymore. The guy was like ahh well just do what you want with it, *walks out*. The clerk then proceeds to take it to the back to throw it out. I suggested that I would take it. And behold I now have a Sega Dreamcast for free!!!!
