Time for Ebonics. Let's learn how to use appropriate English without using paranormal acronyms such as "omg" and "lol".
First of all, this is a message board, not a chat room. You post to be heard by others, not have them look at your posts in confusion. Let's start out with the basics.
If you want to make an imperative statement or comment on how something is amusing, you simply say something like, "Yeah, that's hilarious dude" or "That was pretty funny!". Not, "lmfao", "lol", "rofl", or any combination of the bunch. Emoticons can be used sometimes to express emotions through visual exploitation. If something is funny, you might use :lol. If something is sad or depressing, you might use
. You can pretty much figure that out on your own, if you use facial expressions, that is. Let's move on to sentence completion.
A sentence is a statement that expresses a thought or idea through the use of various words and phrases. As such, extra punctuation may be needed to express yourself sometimes. Take these sentences for example:
"I love steak, it's my favorite food." <--- Correct. Both portions of the sentence express your love for steak.
"I love steak it's my favorite food." <--- Incorrect. A comma is needed after steak, don't want to sound like a robot, right?
"I love steak. It's my favorite food." <--- Incorrect. They are of the same subject matter, it can be broken down into one sentence with a comma.
Spelling. There is a spell check right after the "Preview" button under the posting box. Embrace it.
Next lesson: Learning to use pronouns appropriately.
