English 101

Jack

You sir, are a fool.
Time for Ebonics. Let's learn how to use appropriate English without using paranormal acronyms such as "omg" and "lol".

First of all, this is a message board, not a chat room. You post to be heard by others, not have them look at your posts in confusion. Let's start out with the basics.

If you want to make an imperative statement or comment on how something is amusing, you simply say something like, "Yeah, that's hilarious dude" or "That was pretty funny!". Not, "lmfao", "lol", "rofl", or any combination of the bunch. Emoticons can be used sometimes to express emotions through visual exploitation. If something is funny, you might use :lol. If something is sad or depressing, you might use :(. You can pretty much figure that out on your own, if you use facial expressions, that is. Let's move on to sentence completion.

A sentence is a statement that expresses a thought or idea through the use of various words and phrases. As such, extra punctuation may be needed to express yourself sometimes. Take these sentences for example:

"I love steak, it's my favorite food." <--- Correct. Both portions of the sentence express your love for steak.

"I love steak it's my favorite food." <--- Incorrect. A comma is needed after steak, don't want to sound like a robot, right?

"I love steak. It's my favorite food." <--- Incorrect. They are of the same subject matter, it can be broken down into one sentence with a comma.

Spelling. There is a spell check right after the "Preview" button under the posting box. Embrace it.

Next lesson: Learning to use pronouns appropriately.

How is it not?
Your sentence has two subjects, and two predicates, so it needs to be separated into two sentences, or it needs some kind of conjunction, but a conjunctions would make the sentence sound bad so making them two sentences was right. (don't ask me how I know this lol)

EDIT: Same with: "They are of the same subject matter, it can be broken down into one sentence with a comma."

That's debatable. They both suggest an enormous amount of affection towards the noun. It can be interpreted as either I suppose.

Or

I love steak. It's my favorite food.

Two of the correct ways to put it.
Or you could throw in a conjunction: I love steak, because its my favorite food. The sentence itself doesn't make much sense, but it is grammatically correct.

@Dart, two buttons over from the "post" button.

EDIT: Hines got it. "Steak brings the pwnage."

This was meant as a joke as to the obvious lack of good use of ebonics and use of the english language. You people are so literal. Full of myself? You bet.

I really don't think you know what ebonics means. :lol

Oh Cherry, I'm going to save you the misery of continuing to be foolish by locking this now.

EDIT: RE-OPENED FOR FURTHER CONVERSATION ON THE BENEFITS OF USING PROPER EBONICS.

yo dawg can i borrow some g's to buyz a hummer so thaz we can does a drive-by???

That's foolish. Here's how it should sound:

Hello my friend. Could I please borrow some money to purchase a Hummer so that my friends and I may execute a drive-by?

Duh. ::)

My favorite one would be, "I simply love a slab of dead cow meat on my plate. At medium rare, it tastes exquisite yo."
