check out my amazing discovery.

Eragon is a young farm boy who goes to town and comes back to find his house completely destroyed. He soon finds out that he is the last dragon rider and sets off on a quest with his mentor, Brom who teached him in the way of magic and must stop the evil overlord Galbatorix from ruling the world with his empire.

Sound familiar yet? Here's a better look.

Luke Skywalker is a young farm boy who goes to town and comes back to find his house completely destroyed. He soon finds out that he is the last Jedi and sets off on a quest with his mentor, Obi-Wan Kanobi who teached him in the way of the force and must stop the evil overlord Darth Vader from ruling the world with his empire.

WHERE DID CHRISTOPHER PAOLINI GET THE IDEA!!!

I don't think it was meant to be taken seriously...

Kinda like how most video games aren't considered original anymore because its all been done.

And you just ripped of that entire shpeel (spelling?) from X-Play. You are such a hypocrite. You complain about them ripping something off and then you rip something off. :lol

No, actually I figured this out for myself. I apologize for any similarities to X-play my post may have hinted. X-play rulz.

Its really incredibly similar,so you could understand my confusion. I can't find the video review for some reason, but it went something like this: Eragon is very similar to another series which shall remain nameless (beginning of the star wars movies flashes on screen for a second or 2). You are Eragon (Luke Skywalker comes in parenthesis in bottom of screen), a farm boy who goes to town and returns to find his family dead. Then he learns that he is the last dragonrider (Jedi) and with the help of Brom, (Obi Wann), he must learn to use magic (the force) and stop Galbatorix (Vader) from taking over the world. Where does Christopher Paloni get his ideas?

That is DEFINATELY not a direct quote. Its just from what I remember of the review. What really got me thinking you copied X-Play was that last sentence about Paloni. It was like exactly the same as the one from the X-Play reivew and I'm almost sure that last sentence was what was actually said in the review. (Again, not a direct quote from x-Play,just what I remember from watching the review)

ahhaha they said that on x-play. this reminded me that my english teacher is writing a book thats a TOTAL ripoff of harry potter. she was reading the beginning to us and it went like this:
a little boy with a peculiar marking on his thigh discovers that his parents were magic and he gets a message inviting him to go to a special magic school.
thats all she read but so far it sounds pretty familiar.

Yeah I already mentioned the X-Play thing. Boy this thread is old. I completely forgot about it.

You should probably tell your teacher just how unoriginal that is. Maybe she'll change her idea.

If you think about it, a majority of storytellers take core elements from other works. Even William Shakespeare took stories from old Greek plays. ^_^
