EVENTUALLY!!!, the month the PS3 takes control

Re: September, the month the PS3 takes control

Why, is that when they finally realize price matters?

Which it shouldn't. Sad argument, really. And once again, I'll bring up the same reason why they won't lower the price too much for the umpteenth time. Sony is already losing money by putting Blu-Ray in it. Throughout the last 4 months, the PS3 has never slumped in sales from the previous month. It's only improving. Maybe if it slows down, Sony will try something new.

Re: September, the month the PS3 takes control

Uh, too bad it always will. Price is going to matter. You can say it shouldn't because you're not really on a budget, but face it, Blu-Ray won't be standard for about 10 years or so. That means you don't need it. So why would you want to buy a $600 PS3 with Blu-Ray?

Uh...no. Try 5 at most, and before that its still gonna have a decent sized base.

I agree though, to many people on a budget, price will matter.

Re: September, the month the PS3 takes control

HD isn't even close to standard, and that's the cheaper one. And to TV companies and stuff, cheaper=better. Better=used more. Used more=standard.

Except that was probably the biggest reason why it didn't sell.

Wanna know why the PS2 sold so well in Japan when it was first launched? Because it had a DVD player, and a standard DVD player cost a hell of a lot more.

At least here in the US, a standard Blu-Ray player costs $150 less, and it still isn't standard.

Re: September, the month the PS3 takes control

$600 isn't that much if you save up.

Then again, that would mean having a job and/or bank account.

Which a large portion of Sony's target demographic don't, I'm sure. Not bashing, just saying is all. No Stubes, no more! Please.

The average person though, would want to spend $600 on something more practical. Also, being that many gamers are kids, $600 is a pretty big deal.

Its not like its price makes the PS3 any worse, but people worry about price when going to buy something, especially if they have a small budget.

Re: September, the month the PS3 takes control

Right and watch this. Sony drops the price to $300. Tons more people buy PS3's. More developers want to make games for it since it sells. Even more people buy it since it has good games. Even more developers develop since it has more sales. An endless circle, but it shows the whole reason the PS3 isn't doing good is the price.

Right and watch this. Sony drops the price to $300. Loses $300 more per PS3 that they make. Declares bankruptcy.

Re: September, the month the PS3 takes control

Because who makes software profit anymore, right?

Re: September, the month the PS3 takes control

It can take you to the point where you can start making PS3's cheaper. That's what Microsoft is doing is making software profit. It's the only way they get profit since they were smart enough to sell for cheaper.

Re: September, the month the PS3 takes control

Think about what you just said.

Microsoft to my knowledge isn't losing money for every 360 they make. So the price for it really wasn't an issue at all.

The PS3 won't make a ton of profit by lowering it's price. It's a high end system for high end consumers. Nothing casual about it. 8)

Except that now they're trying to be casual. Right.

Microsoft's gaming division has done nothing but lose money. They've lost $7000000(7 million)+ in the last five years.
