as much as you pick on Hines, he only has 1149 of his posts in there.

And... you go into the members profile... there are stats on the left side... and there is a register date on the initial page.

It you start putting too much in the posting areas... it will get cluttered.

Well, most people don't go into member profiles regularly/at all. It's nice to have it on your posts.

They can get a lot more information there in the profile. And there are detailed stats. You can't fit that all in your posts.

Even if you could... it would really start to clutter crap up... and fast.

That is why we need them to not count. Then they flow elsewhere.
 
You know, I don't see what the big debate is about here. Honestly, the only way we are really going to find out the effects of making F&G posts not count towards your total post count is to give it a try.

I would do just that, for a little while, to see what effect (if any) it will have on the forums.
 
Yeah, let's try it out the rest of the year. No...wait, then they could associate people being gone for the holidays with lack of activity because of it.

Lack of activity? We have 5,500 posts on the month, and there's still another third of it left.

Plus, I was thinking of doing it over a longer period of time, so any increase or decrease in activity can't be attributed to chance, or a thousand other things that could effect forum activity.

Well, yeah, but quite a few people will be gone for the holidays. How long would we do it? A few months?

I don't know. I guess that's for BV to decide, but I was thinking of doing it for a half a year, to a year, or something like that.
 
Well, after that amount of time, we might as well just keep it off.
 
Even if taking away F&G did lower the total post count somehow (monthly)...would it really be worth it to care? I mean honestly, we want people to join to post about video games...not how high they can count.
 
The posts missing from F&G will not count towards the total or member totals. Everything done BEFORE theyare set to not count... should still count.

This is my point... and I am wondering if anyone can answer this question (to a problem that exists on this board):
IF we disable F&G, what are you all (as members of this site) going to do to help spread good topics and posts to the gaming specific areas?

Honestly, people come here and say "there's nothing new to post in." So what are you going to do to help that problem? Because until people start helping put new topics out there or post up responses (good logical posts and responses)... we will still be in the same boat as we always are.

We'll post more in the Gaming related forums..and that I can guarantee you. There's already a ton of topics being made weekly in the gaming related forums anyways, so there's no reason to say there's nothing to post in. Those people are just being hard-headed.

You never know unless you give it a try.
 
Yeah, I already ignore the F&G for the most part, but I ain't the best topic creator, so I do mainly rely on replying, something I can't always do.
 
I am bumping this up...

Maybe we should delete the fun and games thread, and re-create it so all those that boosted count in there will lose it.

Ok... I won't do that, but I think it's time to * MAYBE * make Fun and Games not count.
