Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, of course. Why? It has Alucard (Dracula Backwards). AND did you know that in Hellsing (the anime movie) Alucard is actually Dracula. That is why he is so powerful AND that is the great secret of the Hellsing family. They have fricken Dracula working for them!!!! That is also why anime nation has Alucard spelled wrong.

I didnt know in Hellsing that he was Dracula.  I guess I didn't know cause I watched like the first 3 episodes.  :-\

But anyways, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is awesome! The game is so damn long though and hard at that! *hasn't even beaten the game yet*

Well I guess its time for me to rent the game from Blockbuster or something. :lol

i don't remember them explicitly or implicitly saying he was dracula in hellsing :-\
i like the nes castlevania 2 and 3 a lot.
the ps2 castlevania is good, but symphony of the night was too perfect to be topped

I'm STILL after Symphony of the Night! Can't even find it online, yet i've heard it's available in the UK.

The hunt continues...

I finally managed to get my hands on a copy of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. It's the Greatest Hits version, which kind of lessens its value as a collection item, but I intend to play it and enjoy it! :D

I got it because someone traded it in at GameStop and I noticed it before anyone else. :lol

SotN is really the only PSX or PS2 Castelvania I have played. But, that game is so unbelievably awesome, I doubt it'll be toped for a long while. I have Harmony of Dissonace for the GBA, which is also fun to play, but it can't hold a candle (Har har, lame Castelvania joke) to SotN.

DUH, Symphony of the Night!!!!!!!!!!!

SotN is simply one of the best 2d games I have played (right up there with Super Metroid). If anyone is still craving a bit more of the same, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow for the GBA is roughly 9/10's as good as SotN. My roomie and I both agreed that Symphony and Aria of Sorrow are leaps and bounds ahead of Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance and Lament of Innocence.

Just like everyone else seems to be saying, SOTN is in my opinion the best of the series. The music alone is worth owning the game for.

But I have to admit I prefer the Saturn version of SOTN, which was called Dracula X I believe, simply because it has more playable characters than the PS1 version, which ultimatly gives you alot more reason to play through the game multiple times.

Oh..and its in Japanese too...I like that hehe

hehe, the axelord armor was nearly a joke. :) still, it was a neat little extra in the game.

What powers or weapons did Maria have?

Actually, the Japanese PSX version of SOTN is titled Akumajou Dracula X II (as it's technically the sequel to Akumajou Dracula X, which appeared on the PC-Engine Super CD... hence why you play the final boss battle from Dracula X at the beginning of the game).

Between the US and Japanese PSX releases of SOTN, I prefer the Japanese one (more logical item placement, 2 additional familiars, overall higher difficulty and better voice acting).

I would like to give props to Konami for porting the Sharp X68000 Akumajou Dracula to the PSX too. It's a fantastic game, and I was truly shocked to see it get a US launch (under the title Castlevania Chronicles).

I lucked out and found this game brand new at my local blockbuster for $9.99. I think thats a pretty good deal.

Actually its called Akumajou Dracula X: Gekka no Yasoukyoku - Nocturne in the Moonlight if you want to get technical about it. I agree as well that Castlevania Chronicles (the port of Akumajo Dracula on Sharp X68000) was a decent game. Now if only Konami would port the MSX version and the PCE SCD Dracula X: Rondo of Blood we would have some great stuff. It trips me out they have never ported Dracula X: Rondo of Blood to another console...maybe oneday we will get a nice compilation heh.

Thank you. I was having trouble remembering what the complete title was.

And yeah, it would be nice to not have to part with $150+ to play Chi No Rondo, but Konami have shown some really odd priorities in regards to what gets ported from older machines and what doesn't. After all, they've never ported the arcade game Haunted Castle to any home console (none that I'm aware of, at any rate).

Don't rent, go buy!! There are so many items to find in the game and so many secret areas to uncover. It's a must-have and has awesome replay value.

If you haven't beaten the game yet, you have a LONG way to go...

(SPOILER!)

If you haven't gotten to Dracula's throne room yet, you're only through less than half of the game. :)

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night was the best castlevania games.. ps2 castlevania games simply sux... it had lost that kind of element, it looks weird on 3d.
