Favorite Era of Gaming

Xbox/GC era influenced me the most to be honest. Sure the SNES era helped out but the last era was what kicked me straight into "hardcore gaming". :D This generation seems to be shaping up really well so I'll wait before I can say anything on it.

Exactly.

I know I'm older than most of the user base here. I started gaming on the C64 and Atari 2600. I can't decide between the 8bit and 16bit era. The 16bit era might eek out the win though due to PC games like Doom, Duke Nukem' 3D, Descent, and countless others.

My favorite is 16-bit, and I'm not old. I'm only 17. I was born during the 16-bit era. I remember having a SNES as a kid, and I played it all the time. But I've gone back and played a lot of the older games, all the way back to 8-bit. I'm not sure what it is about the 16-bit era, but it keeps me coming back to it.

I know what you mean. I also started on the C64 and ended up owning a C128D at one time. There are a lot of good memories there sitting up typing in a lot of code from a magazine . The reward was an old school game that was homemade. :)
 
I grew up in the 8-bit era, and was on the ball with 16-bit. I started off with Mario Bros. 1 and 3, bought an original Gameboy, played Kirby's Dreamland and Donkey Kong Land. Picked up a Sega Gen (sans Sonic) and got into the EA sports titles, as well as a little known gem called Dynamite Headdy.

I have a special place in my heart for all of those systems and games, but the N64... playing those 8 and 16 bit worlds in fully interactive 3d environments... still gives me shivers to this day. Playing Mario 64 for the first time in a Wal-mart kiosk, taking my first brave steps into the Land of Hyrule where the sun and moon rose and set, duking it out with 3 of my friends atop the block fortresses of Mario Kart... the 8 and 16 bit eras just didn't give me that sense of wonder or enjoyment.
 
I've gotta go with the "8-Bit",When the NES came out with titles like "Legend of Zelda",Mike Tyson's Punchout",etc. that was a turning point in my opinion.

My first console I remember playing on was the Atari 2600, I later came to own a 7800. I also owned a C64.
