FF character name pronounce?

I don't understand how you pronounce most of these

Like Tidus.. I always say "Tie-dus" but aparntly it is "Tee-dus"?
And Tifa I guess is "Tee-fa"?
What about Zidane? I always said "Za-dain"?

How do you pronounce these? It seems like the I is always pronounced diffrent..?
 
I have always heard Tidus as pronounced like Titus. Basically Tie-Dus. And I assume Tifa is pronounced Tee-Fa. If it were pronounced differently, it would be spelled with a Y instead of an I.
The last one looks to me like it's pronounced Zy-Dan.
 
I always pronounced Tidus as (tie-dus) cause in english thats how you pronounce it. Sense It is a jap game its sopposed to be (tee-dus)

so Is the 'I' in every name pronounced diffrent?
 
I always pronounced Tidus as Tie-dus, Tifa as Tih-fa, and Zidane as Zih-dane.

I don't know how Aeris is supposed to be pronounced. :? I always just guessed it was Air-is

From what I remember, the katakana for Aeris/Aerith is literally "Erisu", which lead me to believe at first that her name was "Ellis" in English. The Japanese have no 'th' sound.. so they often substitute it with s.

Tidus should be pronounced "tie-das". I'm pretty sure it's written as "Taidasu" in Japanese. If it was written as Chidasu, then tee-das would be accurate (or if they're using some really odd-ball katakana like a regular Te with a chisai 'I' after it).
 
what about the per-annual summon "Ifrit" i've pernounced it EEE-freet, cause i guess that's how i like it! haha, but i've also heard, e-fret (soft e in beginning) what do you guys think
 
I have always found that if you pronounce it phoneticaly, then nobody will be offended. So I usually pronounce names that way. Iftrit to me looks like it would be pronounced " IF-RIT."
 
I prefer Tie-Dus myself, though yes it's true that in KH it is pronounced Tee-Dus.

It's kind of like FFX-2. I call it FF-X-2 while others call it FF-10-2. I prefer the prior. 8)
 
The name Zidane, I used to pronounce as "z-I-dane" but there is a soccer player whose name is Zidane and it was pronounced as "Zee-dan" so I've gotten used to pronouncing it that way

Tifa I've always pronounced "Tee-fuh"

and Tidus as "tie-dus" but since it was pronounced "tee-dus" on Kingdom Hearts and G4 I'm guessing that is the correct way
 
I still say

Tidus - Tie-dus
Tifa - Tih-fa
Zidane - Zih-dane
Ifrit - Ih-freet

I do believe I read or heard in some interview thought that Tidus is supposed to be pronounced Teedus. :-\ I'll stick with Tydus I think lol.
 
I know for sure that Tidus is pronounced "Tee-dus" having heard it pronounced that way by Nobuo Uematsu at his More Friends concert in L.A.

I refuse to pronounce it that way because combined with his pants, it just makes him look like too much of a weenie.
