FFX battle question...

Okay, I think I am stumped.

I got to the Al Bhed mana ray tank thing. It kicks my butt in a heart beat. How do I beat this thing?? Anyone?? Help??
 
It's been a while since I've beat him...

First you want to take out the little flying thing that blocks magic with Wakka or someone else that can hit it. Then you want to bring out Lulu and cast your highest thunder magic on it. I don't remember if you have Yuna in that battle or not, if you do, summon Ixion... Sorry I can't be any more help. :-\
 
I'll try doing that. I just couldn't see hacking away at it when it's got like 16,000 HP. And I wasn't sure what else to do because once that little "anti-magic" thing is blown up, I have three turns to do something before it blasts my characters away.

Alrighty peeps, I need some more help on FFX. I laid the smackdown on that Al Bhed tank thing thanks to Lulu and Rikku. Lulu's overdrive woth her Blizzara magic and Rikku's lightning marbles did the trick. Now I am at Seymour is giving me troubles. His Guado cronies were cake. Anima was easy. Now when I get to smacking Seymour upside that nasty looking noggin, he throws some blizzard magic my way and kills my party in no time. What am I doing wrong?? In the first part of the battle, should I let Auron slice and dice him a bit to soften him up before he summons Anima??
 
I'm not gonna be much help, but cast haste on yuna or hastaga. Have yuna use her Nul-spell for blizzard on everyone.... See if that works.
 
I think I got Yuna to learn reflect..then I cast reflect on everyone...n the nulltide n nullblaze n all that...so when he tried using magic...it bounced off and killed him.

Lol I prolly seem stupid since you prolly already beat him. If you need anymore help, I'd be more than glad to be of some assistance. :)

That also works, lol... I didn't think of that one.
 
I haven't yet tried to beat Seymour a second time around. The guide says to have Lulu cast a spell to poison him and he'll fall quickly. But I guess I haven't had her learn that yet. I got frustrted with the grid because only a few characters were able to use the Level 1 Key Spheres. I have a bunch of them too.
 
Ah, but if you have reflect and haste...cast haste on everyone...then cast reflect on everyone...works like a charm.

If you see you're having too much trouble trying to do this in time....then just cast reflect on everyone...n he'll fall so easily. I didn't use the guide, so this is jus MY way of defeating him easily.
 
I bought the guide because it was cheap and discontinued. And there was only one left at the shop that I bought FFX from.

O, I hope you dont' think I was bashing you for getting one. Nooo, guides are very helpful..especially after you beat a game the first time n wanna find some secrets. :D
 
Got closer this time around. The Guado Guardians are cake. Anima is easy. I don't know why people and even the guide says that Anima is the nastiest Aeon in the game. If he is, then this game is going to be easier the farther I get. Seymour is getting easier. I noticed my minor mistakes just before Auron got KOed. Oh well. When I have another chance I'll be able to nail the whole battle flawlessly.
 
Well, I tried a bunch of times last night. I kept getting Seymour down to about half damage when he starts with his wicked multi-attacks. One shot and even Auron is toast. Would you think that Kimahri's stone breath attack would have anny effect?? I'm pulling my hair out because I am noticing inconsistencies with the game and the walkthrough guide.
 
Wow, the guide really doesn't help at all for this part of the fight does it? :lol

Well, I don't really want to repeat myself, but after Tidus talks to Seymour during the first half of the fight, his attack should have rose a lot. Make sure you keep Yuna out and have at least her hasted... Make sure you already have the Null-spells already on you BEFORE you start that part of the battle with him, that way you don't have to guess what magic spell he's gonna use first. If anybody knows if there is a pattern to it, go ahead and mention it. Have Auron attack with Magic Break...
 
So I can have Yuna cast all the Nul-spells?? What I mean is I can cast one, then anothera nd nother on top of it and it won't cause problems??

I must have fought this battle six or so times, and I have yet to see a pattern. But then again I am so focused on not getting KOed that I never bothered to pay attention to that.

I'll try finding the sequence though, cause I know there is one.
