Final Fantasy Crisis Core Discussion

too bad i can't get it (i'm pspless XD ) but hey the good thing is that i have a hardcore KH fan as a friend so when the 2 versions of kingdom hearts come out we can just witch and i'll play this game and kingdom hearts birth by sleep (the only games i really want for the console)

Well I have put a good two hours into this game so far, and let me say, I am very impressed. I totally love it.

The combat is weird at first, but you get used to it, and it's quite fun. ^_^

I am most impressed by how well paced it is. Basically, you fight, you get story scenes, you fight, you get story scenes, all in a way that makes you want to play more to keep it going. In fact, it was hard for me to put it down because I wanted to keep playing. :D But I wanted to post before I went to sleep, so here I am.

Anyway, I definitely recommend this game if you're a PSP owner, but especially if you're a FF fan. ^__^

I hate to be the downer, but I swear to god, the level I got to play in today. It reminded me of Dynasty Warriors combat system. Beautiful presentation however, but this Kingdom Hearts style gameplay is the only thing that sways me away from it.

Really? I must be weird, then. I totally love the combat system. As you get more Materia and more abilities, it gets even more fun with all the options. ^_^ But there's also some strategy as well. You can choose whether to set your abilities for attack, magic, or defense. And when the DMW thing matches up and you get to do a special attack, it looks really cool.

But, I've always been a bigger fan of combat that is more real-time, and that's how Crisis Core's combat feels, so it could be that I enjoy it more because of that anyway.

And Mega, wait until you get about four hours in and meet up with some more familiar faces, like
Aerith. I don't know who her voice actor is for Crisis Core, but she sounds a lot better than Mena Suvari did in Advent Children.

Wait, it has Kingdom Hearts style gameplay??

I WANT!

Yeah, I think if you're a Final Fantasy VII fan, Crisis Core is a must have game. Even if you don't like the battle system that much, it's worth it for the backstory alone.

UGH that's hurting me a lot >_>

only 2 missions into it, but the combat is killing me. do i really need to hear the woman say "activating combat mode" before every fight? i need to stop playing the missions and get back to the main plot.

Well, it's helpful to do the missions, though. You can get good items that way, and you're more likely to level up the more combat you do. The combat is also good for leveling up your attacks; you don't really do a lot of fighting for the main plot.

Missions are the only way to get some Materia. And after you face summon creatures such as Ifrit and Bahamut, the only way to get their Materia is through the Missions.

I think I'm already level 19.

Oh, it's so fun. I wish more people were playing it so I had more people to discuss it with.

I think I am now more than halfway through the game. ^_^

I just got it last night Mai. I'm really impressed with the visuals. The gameplay I like, but I need more time to get the hang of the combat system and controls.

Yeah, I love the graphics and the music as well as the battle system.

Here's a small tip: if you don't want to mess around with trying to equip Zack, you can make the game do it for you. Just go to Equip and move the cursor over to where it says "BEST" and it will ask if you want to equip best for Attack, Magic, or Defense. Either way, it will equip Zack with both the best Materia and the best equipment for whichever particular angle you go for.

Of course, now I'm at a point where I just do it to see what the game suggests, and then I tweak it to my own likings. :D Like I set Zack for attack, but I stick at least one magic materia in there, usually Thundara or Graviga.

I'm not that far in yet but, so far I love it. This brings back some good memories.

Like:

After the tutorial level all you see is Zack doing squats and all I thought when I saw that scene was when in FFVII when you had to do as many squats as you can at that gym in the slums for the wig.

and

When in the Wutai mission right before facing the boss you meet a younger Yuffie. I couldn't help but laugh at this scene.

yuffie comes back and is just as annoying as ever.

and one question
BTW, genesis looks really cool with graying hair, but why is his coat turning gray as well? is it a part of his body?

I doubt it. It's probably just a cosmetic thing that the designers thought would look cool, and didn't think of having a logical explanation for it.
