Eurogamer reveals that two of the first 3D PS3 games -- retrofitted versions of Wipeout HD and MotorStorm: Pacific Rift -- will have downgraded resolutions when played in stereoscopic 3D (via Kotaku). Wipeout HD originally could run as high as 1080p, but will be restricted to 720p in 3D (and with a reduced frame-rate, as well). And MotorStorm: Pacific Rift could run as high as 720p normally, but is actually dropped to a sub-HD resolution when playing in 3D

Ouch O.o The price we pay for 3D!

Enjoy your 3D. I hope this fad goes away quick.

for once i agree with you xD

but then again if they can improve it, and just make it an option of whether or not we want our games in 3D or not then i would embrace the idea

For me, it's not so much that it's gimmicky. It's that 1.) It's way too expensive to truly get a great 3d experience and 2.) It doesn't really immerse you anymore than 2D.

For movies, I can see it working, but when it comes to video games, it's just one more thing to distract you. Especially if you have those stupid glasses on.

Virtual Boy all over again...
