First details on GUITAR HERO 4

This might be too much too soon. I get the distinct impression they're just going to milk it for all it's worth which will oversaturate the market. Nothing runs a series into the ground like coming out with yearly editions that barely improve or differ from their predecessors.

Well... maybe not...

Well, be honest here.  You can't change a sports game without turning into something Nintendo has done (like chucking a bom-bom into the middle of the football field to cause all players in an area to force fumble or something).  Sports will be sports, no matter how repetitive and milk worthy they are.  It's been working for nearly 2 decades now, and I don't see it stopping.  I suppose Guitar Hero is really following the same route, but I don't think DDR has changed much over the years either.

Now, if it's a series that CAN be different each time (like the Mario games (Mario Sunshine, you have to give them credit for trying to make something different, even if it wasn't widely loved)), that's a different story.

Good point Stealth, I know it's getting extreme. The merchandise especially. Have you seen the garbage they have with Rock Band or Guitar Hero on it? It's as bad as seeing a retro Nintendo shirt at Hot Topic now.

Yeah, unfortunately, shamelessly milking a series doesn't seem to slow down sales.

At least they aren't coming out with four Guitar Heroes in 2008, like a recent rumor suggested.
