i just bought my first Neo Geo because i like arcade fighting games and shoot em up games. what are some good games to play for it? :woot
 
You just got a system, eh?

well... here are my recommendations for games (not in any particular order):
1.) Windjammers (I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS GAME)
2.) Pulstar
3.) Top Hunter
4.) Double Dragon (A surprisingly good fighter. It didn't sell well from what I saw at other sites.... so I tried it out... and its actually fun... at my store.. they sell pretty good).
5.) Viewpoint
6.) Last Resurt
7.) Metal Slug 1
8.) Metal Slug 2
9.) Ghost Pilots
10.) Nam 75
11.) Real Bout Fatal Fury 2
12.) Art of Fighting 3

Games that are good on the budget and are fun:
1.)samurai shodown(spirits) 3 ( I do love this game too)
2.) Samurai Shodown (Spirits) 1
3.) Samurai Shodown (Spirits) 2
4.) Real Bout Fatal Fury


Games that are good but have long load times:
1.) Last blade
2.) King Of Fighters 97 & 99
3.) Ninja Masters
4.) Last Blade 2


there are more, but this should give you a good start :)

All the games Blue sugested are great...but its almost a blasphemy he didn't recommend you the BEST King of Fighters game...

KOF 96 all the way baby!

Thats a must buy title for sure in my book.
 
i finally played the Viewpoint game matter of fact its the only game i played so far its alright but for me atleast i get kind of tired of it after like 15 min. of playing it, maybe it would be funner if i had somebody else playing with me? Also i keep getting stuck on the second level when i have to beat the boss. :? i think next im going try the KOF games
 
The only game to own is Samurai Shodown II. As far as I am concerned, it is the best game ever made. The only two games I own for my AES are SSII and Magician Lord.
 
samurai shodown 1, 2, and 3 are the best games to own for ANY Neo Geo system.

they are a MUST to pickup :)

Aero Fighters 2 is a really good shooter. I also like the World Heroes series (you should be able to pick up WH Perfect or WH Jet for a pretty reasonable price) Baseball Stars 2 and Super Baseball 2020 are both really good and reasonably priced (even if you don't like baseball, they're still fun) Magician Lord is good, but fairly tough to find. Also the Crossed Swords series is fun, especially with two players (CS2 is a lot better than the original but is also more expensive and tougher to find. Finally, give 3 Count Bout/Fire Suplex a shot if you're a wrestling fan. The stuff the other guys recommended is all good too, although I haven't played all of those yet myself.
 
I remember my first Neo... AES system with King of the Monsters and Magician Lord.

At that time, I could not believe a game system could make sound and music like King of the Monsters.

I guess when you compare it to the Sega Genesis, it really stands out.
