Football Season 2006

That's last year. And no,they weren't spectatular. They couldn't stop anyone to save their life.If Cato June didn't pick off a pass, their opponets we're going to score. They need tons of help at Linebacker, which is the most important part of the defense. They should have kept Marcus Washington and Mike Peterson instead of paying all that money for offense. They probably would have won it last year, with at least one of those two guys still with them. They played well against junk offenses at the beginning of last year, and that's the main reason why they finished in the top 10 in total defense at the end of the year

They were 11th in the NFL in total defense and 4th in the AFC. I don't know about you guys, but when you have a dominant offense like theirs and and your defense well in the better half in the league, you're gonna have an excellent team on your hands.

Oh and Manning WILL win a Super Bowl, maybe not this year, but it WILL happen

I think he will eventually get over the hump when it comes to choking in the postseason. But I'm not sure on him winning a superbowl though. They're obviously worse this year with losing Edge and no Defensive pickups,so I'm not sure if they'll even win their division.

My family is Browns fans, I like them but they always disappoint me. Unlike my Buckeyes :)

Give the Brownies a couple of years (this and next) and they'll be giving the Stoolers, Bungles and Ratbirds fits!

Oh yes...we can always rely on Tressel and his boys to give us a football team to be proud of! Go Bucks!

Yeah, but that's being a bit optimistic.Frye,Droughns, and whoever their other wideouts are aren't NFL calibur starters. The positives are Andra Davis......and not much else. They wasted a first round pick on a below average DE,and will have to build for the future with weak draft classes for the next two years,so their future isn't very bright. The loss of Ben Taylor will come back to bite them in the butt

Frye only started 5 games. How can you judge if he's NFL caliber or not? Droughns ran for over 1,200 yards last year, and if I'm not mistaken did that the year before in Denver...yet he's not NFL Caliber? Their Wideouts as follows are...Joe Jurevicius, Dennis Northcutt, Joshua Cribbs, Braylon Edwards (and a handfull of others). Surely Jurevicius would be considered NFL caliber. He did help Tampa Bay win the Super Bowl after all. Northcutt has been with the Browns for years. If he wasn't NFL caliber he'd have been traded or whatever by now. Cribbs is up and coming...he's making strides. Edwards I'm sure is regarded by most as NFL caliber. Oh and surely you think that their LOLB Willie McGinest is NFL Caliber...he only helped New England win the Super Bowl several times and sent the NFL playoff sack record last year against Jacksonville. Lets not forget big Ted Washington. He's been in the NFL for 16 years...yea he's getting up there in years but apparantly can still do the job or he would have retired years ago! As for Wimbley, how can you say he was a waste? He hasn't played a down in an NFL regular season game. I don't expect him to be spectacular this year or anything (since he's moving from DE to ROLB), but he can't be judged a waste or a success for 2 or 3 years to come. Last but not least is Bentley...we don't have him for this year, but next he's back. He's made the probowl team as both a center and guard, how many guys have done that that aren't NFL caliber?
Ben Taylor is one player, a good one yes, but just one. And a player at linebacker to boot. Losing one player will not make a team that much worse (except perhaps QB). Especially when we added Mcginnest to replace him!
Anyhow...I just wanted to respond, your certainly entitled to your opinions and opinions are like belly buttons...we all have them and when we stick our fingers in them they come out stinky. Yea...something like that! ::D
Anyhow...Go Browns! WOOF!! WOOF!!

After seeing Reggie Bush tonight in the preseason.....all i have to say is, what were the Texans thinking?!? Why wouldnt they pick him?!?

I agree with Jeepin - the Browns got some good talent on the offensive side of the ball - defense is a different story. I think all they need to do is learn to work together and actually have hope because I think they just expect to lose every year so dont really try. Get what i'm sayin?

Thanks Auron. Though I tend to think the Brownies will need to rely on defense to win games. We're still not gonna be an offensive powerhouse. I hope I'm wrong about the O...it's happened before once or twice :p

I get exactly what your saying...there's been a big stinking "loser" cloud hanging over Cleveland for years. It started with "The Fumble" and "The Drive" and permeated every nook and cranny of Cleveland when Art the Fart moved the team to Baltimore. When the team came back we had a buncha hacks at the helm. Now that Botch Davis and his cancerous crew are gone things are looking better. To breed a winning program first you have to breed a winning mentality. It doesn't happen overnight or even in one year. I think Romeo Crennel spoke to that effect in several interviews when he was first hired.

yeah.it's just not as good as the other 31 teams.Their defense is nice, but their secondary makes me hurl.

And to answer jeepin's comment:It's not hard to pick out who's going to be good or not.

I think this will be his final year in Pittsburgh.I think he'll leave after this year, and then comeback to a different team in maybe 2-3 years.
I think he wants to coach somewhere else,so I think he'll leave for a couple years so it won't look like he left because he wanted more money because the owners wouldn't pay him top 5 coach money. My guess is that he'll go to Dallas in a couple years after Parcells retires.

Colts versus Seahawks Sunday night- MM and I are going!

His dad got tickets through his work (I think) and we are going to go. The Colts will lose, of course, but it will be a good game anyways.

I merged this topic because its pretty much the same subject. :p

Look for us on TV, i guess.....even though you dont really know what we look like. :lol

I always kind of liked preseason, because teams do things they normally wouldnt....onside kicks, fake plays, players playing positions they dont usually. Kinda fun to watch.

It was not really a need for them. Houston needed a Defensive Lineman more (and Bush would not agree to a contract the night before the draft). I do not think the Saints needed Bush, but they could not pass him up; and that is why the Saints will never be in a Super Bowl. You need to address needs in the draft and not just grab a player because he is there and should have went first.

How can my 49ers lose to those dogs in that pit called Oakland?? 23-7!! Good thing this is only preseason.

HEY!! Oakland RULES!!! 3-0 baby... ::) at least we can win something somewhere...
