Frequency= addiction on a disk

I had never really played a "rythem" game before, fearing that my "coolness" would be tarnished and destroyed if ever I was caught playing something so "nerdy."

But then I saw Frequency for $6 at Gamestop and thought... "Why not?" Afterall, I had seen it on the list of "Trippiest Games Ever" that G4/Tech TV had on their show Filter, and it looked pretty fun...

And yes, it was very fun!

You basically just choose a song you want to "play to" (there are remixes of songs by Fear Factory, No Doubt, etc.), and then you go into nice little "psychedelic tunnel" complete with lots of flashy lights and bright colors! (weeeee!!!)

You then shoot down the tunnel, pressing the buttons on the controler that correspond to the ones on the "tunnel track" to play entire bars of music. When you finish a bar of music correctly, it'll be added to the song. In this way, you kind of "construct" the entire song by rapidly switching back and forth between tracks on this 3D tunnel, getting powerups that allow you to "clear" bars of music instantly or even multiply your score.

As I started to get better at this game, it almost felt like I was playing a really fast paced shooting game. With my eyes constantly scanning the entire tunnel trying to find places I could get powerups and string together combos.

Anyway... The game is very fun, and if you can find it cheap at your "local game retailer," then I suggest you pick it up. It is well worth the money.

I actually have a demo of this on my network adapter startup disk. I should pop that in before I drive to GameCrazy to pick up San Andreas tonight to see how it is.

I played this a couple of weeks back.

I don't really know... usally I love rythem games, DDR Donky Konga, etc. But this one rubbed me the wrong way I guess. It was either way to easy or way to hard no matter how much I played it. I will say it had a really good song list though.

Althought i haven't got it, ive played it. I acutally like rythum games bust a grove is one of the best but this was acutally a good game

i love the game but i'm not good enough to play online. too many freaks, but the game is really good, gotta multi it up
