game about Holocaust may not make it to US

Imagination Is The Only Escape purports to tell the story of a young Jewish boy who must regularly flee into his own imagination in order to cope with the horrors he sees surrounding him in Nazi-occupied Germany. Although illustrated in a 2-D cartoonish style, the game is extremely serious in its tone and treatment of its subject matter, prominently featuring many grisly real-world facts about the Holocaust and resembling in many ways the multiple-Oscar-winning film Life Is Beautiful.

The truth however may simply be that Nintendo is justifiably nervous about the game's premise and needs a little convincing to feel reassured that the serious subject matter will be handled with tact and dignity.

I hope it does get a release.

I hope this comes here. It sounds really interesting. Plus, America hasn't shy away from the Holocaust in any other media. Why would they do so when it comes to games?

I believe they are calling it "Call of Duty," or something along those lines.
No actually, it's Imagination is the only escape.

Go look up the word "Nazi"

Call of Duty is about WW2 (besides 4), not the Holocaust. Even though it was in the same era that does not make it the same thing. You never once go into a Concentration camp in Call of Duty.

Go look up the words "World War II"

Now stop being so condescending when you can't even figure out the difference between the Holocaust and WWII.

:lol

I know the difference, I'm just messing.

I find the Holocaust to be extremely interesting, actually. How could humans do that to each other? That is what you call pure evil.

I hope too that they convey history with dignity. But there will be nay-sayers...

Also, let's keep this thread civil. We need to show some maturity in a subject like this.

I don't know if I really like this idea for a game...

I won't lecture anyone's ear off, but the game would have to be something really special for me to give it a thumbs up. It really shouldn't be a "game" in any sense of the word. And I honestly don't see how it could be fun.

I don't know, real people went through those concentration camps and witnessed and experienced those horrors first hand. I don't see how making a game of that could be a good idea.

"Bernard himself was eager to state that there is no on-screen violence of any kind in the product...."

Huh? I see a picture of a guy with an ax trying to head chop a monster that's rising out of a sea of blood. Very tasteful.

Well, the picture in the article is actually a screen from another game. I don't know why they included in it in the article, as I was confused as well when I first saw it.

@Mai, probably to stir up lies and leave a bad taste in the public eye. Much like CNN does on a daily basis.

Well, if you've seen the movie Pan's Labyrinth, it kind of deals with the same thing. I guess the only difference would be that the main character in Pan's Labyrinth wasn't in a concentration camp, but she was still in a bad situation. And in that, they actually showed a lot of the bad stuff. This game, on the other hand, seems like it's not even going to address that....you're actually just going to see what's going on in the kid's imagination the whole game.

I guess what I am getting at is that I think this game could be good if it's done in a tasteful manner.

I don't understand why they wouldn't release this game. Hell, in Wolfenstein you fought Hitler.

Oh wait, I got it. Some German will file a lawsuit! I forgot that we live in such a sue-happy environment.
