OK!!! It's time for a new Contest. What is this contest? It's the "Invite the most new people to the Game Addicts forum contest!"

Simple rules... invite the most people. When you invite someone... they must post in this topic stating WHO invited them as proof.

How do you enter? JUST POST "I'm in" on this thread.
Prize: A STEAM Copy of Left 4 Dead 2, Poker Night at the Inventory, Sanctum collection, Portal 2, A.R.E.S., or Costume Quest
The Judges: The mods and I


Contest will end January 31st around 12:00pm. We will then tally the number of registered members. Hopefully we can gain many new members from this... please do not spam to get people to join though.

Cool! I'd like the Sanctum collection. I will definitely try to get some people to join up. Was already going to before this contest. :)
 
I don't have a PC to game on anymore, so it's kind of pointless to enter this contest... and the last contest... :P
I'll still try to invite some people though.
 
according to a couple of my friends registration is currently disabled o.o? is there a problem going on?
 
Here is what I'm going to do... I'm going to enable registrations ... but they have to be approved.

Please post up their user names here and we will enable them. All spambots will be deleted.

Ok... Registrations are enabled again. I did a little tweaking. I had "admin approval" set for an hour. There are 10 members in there. I'm going to delete them as spam bots unless someone knows them or knows someone signed up.

Hopefully this tweak helps... And they don't figure out how to script it.

Basically... It's a question that asks "your favorite color is red... What is your favorite color?" :lol thanks for the suggestion grindspine.

And few more questions will be posted like this and will be rotated.

I'm going to extend the contest deadline by a couple days as well.

Did you have them try again? Everything should be good to go.

Does everyone understand the "registration" question? Or do you think there is a better registration question that many people would know?

I am hoping that works. My only concern is that the word "red" is stated, which a scripted program may observe. Making it more complicated like, "If your favorite color is a comination of red and yellow, your favorite color would be?" would get rid of that potential problem, but that is assuming that people know that red plus yellow make orange...

But, I'm hoping for the best with a straightforward anti-bot question like that...

so far... it has been working well. I think we've only had 5-7 spam bots enter since then. I just hope humans get it :lol


How is everyone doing? :lol So far, I do not see anyone posting someone joined due to their invite :) Should I move the contest out to Jan 31st?

Giving a bot numbers to work with, even if they're written out as a string probably isn't the best idea. Scripting that would be much more doable than scripting the second question Grind posted up. Again assuming people know red + yellow = orange. :lol

I think the current question worked pretty well :lol Spam bots are still thwarted :D

I'm not sure anyone is going to win this contest :lol :lol
