Game Integration

For anyone who's been keeping an eye on Dust 514, you'll know where this is going. FPS battles in Dust 514 will actually affect planet territories in Eve Online, a PC MMORPG. I think this is an amazing idea, and I'm curious, what other kinds of game integrations would you guys like to see?

Matches of Halo affecting the strength of enemy forces in a sci-fi air combat game (Warhawk)?

Assassinate targets in Assassin's Creed to affect city bonuses in Civilization 5?

Collect items in Pikmin that gives Link powerups in Legend of Zelda?

The possibilities here are exciting!

Not sure how I feel about this. I can see the appeal on an MMORPG, but not sure how I feel if two different games integrating and communicating with each other. I'm going to have to give this some thought. I'll be back.

I think this COULD BE a really awesome idea. It definitely depends on implementation... and I think the scope would have to be limited on what games are included.

I really thought the idea of real time weather in a flight sim based on the weather data from NOAA or The Weather Channel would've been a great idea... integration on a different level, but that would be cool. On that same note, I think it would be cool if you could display weather or different backgrounds based on weather currently occuring (OR weather changing in game in an FPS based on your current local conditions). Whoever hosts the game takes control of the weather conditions.

Sports games are a kinda obvious target - increase / decrease player stats as the player performs, injuries, trades, holdouts, etc. I know it's already started with roster updates but it seems like if one were to integrate something a bit closer to real time than once a season then EA et al could take some focus away from cranking out marginally revised game yearly to focus one one big opus (per sport of course) and keep it legit for at least a couple years.

I also would like to see more of the skylanders idea, maybe a bit more mature. CCGs are obvious possibilities.

I really like the idea of serial games. Take the idea behind Mass Effect (certain choices from previous games made impacts but nothing as major as bioware led us to believe). Obviously things like the queen helping you either way (just in cyborg form or original) is written in to save programming time and money and probably disk space so obviously if we're wanting something major the media is going to have to get bigger or the programming more efficient.

as far as serial it doesn't have to be the same game though. ... not necessiarily game a, game a 2, game a 3, etc. It could totally be game A, game 2, and game D, all completely seperate when played alone but when game A is saved game 2 can be greatly effected, and so on. I'm not talking about my character wearing a hat that I unlocked in a different game, I mean I want people complaining that they can't get every cheevie because they don't have all the games, and / or the game play / story be extremely different. talking to a live or spirit / npc depending on if i killed them or not last game doesn't really make me think different.
