GameStop...a necessary evil?

Well the nice part about those mom and pop businesses, they are secured for life, since GameStop keeps killing off all the classic games. Which is hypocritical imho, that GameCube and PS2 continues to sell, yet original Xbox is a ghost now? *shakes my head* I dunno anymore lol Heck, EVERYTHING is classic apparently to GameStop.

My guess Mega would be it comes down to space and they feel the xbox has least to offer no nostalgic hook like Nintedo has and the PS2 is still having new games made for it.

True, but everyone loves to hunt down Halo 1, 2, or Fable ever so often. Other than that, not many other titles to declare, besides Star Wars KOTOR and Jade Empire.

Well Elder Scroll III is another must have especialy the game of the year edition. The expansion packs include on the GOTY edition are longer than most xbox games.
When I got my xbox this last summer I didn't know even about Jade Empire since I found it's become one of my favorite games but the rest of the title you listed were along with Dead or Alive extreme Beach Volleyball and Elder Scroll III: GOTY edition were titles I knew I was gonna get as soon as I had an xbox.
That local video game store I was telling you about before they didn't even have a copy of Halo 1,2, Fable or KOTOR I or II I had to pawn shop and local video store and buy used copies there. But hey they had about 50 copies of different Madden games sitting it's no wonder I felt dirty every time I went in that store.

Wait, your guy's gamestops are still carrying Cube games but aren't carrying Xbox games? It's the exact opposite at the stores around me.

Really?? Huh, that reminds me of 2002. When GameStop's stop carrying N64 games, yet other GameStops in the middle of Arizona or New Mexico were lol

I think all the inventory went over to your side as some kind of trade it seems.

Actualy the 2 gamestops near me are still carrying some games of all 3 I was told they were going stop carrying xbox games before the end of the summer though.

Yeah there are no Cube games whatsoever and there's still bins of Xbox games. :lol

I love gamestop I used to be like you guys until a spent 1 year living in small town with truely terrible video game store in it. It was localy owned store terrible selection, they I had one week return policy everthing was overpriced, out of the 10 games I got from 3 didn't work at all and they would only give me store credit.

Gamestop's return policy is crap as well. Unless you pay into their extra insurance scam you've only got 2 weeks to return a game. After two weeks they won't even give you store credit for the game, they make you trade it in (worth basically nothing) if you want to get anything back for the busted game they sold you.

I pretty much always buy games at Wal-mart now. They always have new games on time, their prices are equal or lower than that of Gamestop, and if you just want to replace a broken copy of a game (scratched disc or whatever) you can just walk up to the CS desk and ask for one, regardless of when you bought the game or how much money you spent on "extra insurance."

I hate endorsing Wal-mart for anything, but if we're still discussing whether or not Gamestop is a necessary evil, I would say Wal-mart is the lesser of the two.

TBH though sometimes GameStop does have better prices than even Wal-Mart.

I got Star Ocean: First Departure for PSP at Wal-Mart and it was $50. But at GameStop they sell it for $29.99. Boy was I pissed when I saw that. I got it at Wal-Mart because I can use my discount, but if I'd known GameStop was selling it so much cheaper I would have gotten it there instead.

$50 for a PSP game!? wth! That's price gouging isn't it? No PSP game should be over the $39.99 start at price, unless it's a collector's edition!

I can't speak for all Gamestops everywhere... actually, living in Canada, I can't really speak to any... but I can speak on behalf of several EBgames (same company, different name) in my area when I say that I have never, ever, seen a game cheaper at EBgames than at Wal-mart. In fact, most times even used game prices at EB are equal to, or higher than, brand new copies of the game sold at Wal-mart.

Yeah I see games used at GS that are more expensive than new games at Walmart and Meijers. o.O

Yeah guys but on the other hand certain titles at least in my area weren't carried by Meijers or Walmart that Gamestop does two that come to mind off the top of my head Ar tonelico II: Melody of Metafalica and Persona 4.
