If a lady buys a Wii Fit, she's going to get the magazine speech. Except, not for game magazines, but to a free 12-month trial subscription to either Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Redbook, Good Housekeeping or O Magazine

@Alee, OMG I JUST READ THE NEW COSMO! LIKE OMG!! :lol

Imagines myself standing at the counter amidst a throng of men, buying my game and the clerk says "Would you like a suscription to Good Housekeeping or Cosmo with your game?" That's just embarassing.

Exactly. It almost seems stereotypical to a point. I mean no offense, but it's almost like them offering African American gamers subscriptions to hip hop magazines. This is so lame, Gamestop ::)

I know my mom would love this. She loves Wii Fit and she would be happy to get one of these. :lol

Why does Gamestop feel the need to attract more female gamers, and what gives them the idea that this promotion will do that? The last statistic I heard on male to female game ratios was a solid 45 to 55 percent, so its about as close to half and half as you can get. Of course, most girl gamers stick to things like the Sims, or Petz, or Wii Fit, but that's not a bad thing. Releasing more games that appeal to female gamers is the best way to expand the female audience, not magazine promotions.

Or is Gamestop aware of the number of female gamers, and are just trying to attract them to their stores? If that is the case, then here's an idea: don't hire incredibly lame nerds to work there. No girl wants to go to a store where she's going to be awkwardly hit on every five seconds. If Gamestop hired people with some personality they might get other non-nerds going to there store.

PHAIL! What in the hell are they thinking? I mean, Gamestop is supposed to sell games, not Cosmo subscriptions. >_>

Unfortunately, the casual females are gonna eat this up.

I laughed pretty hard at this. At first I thought it's a smart move by GameStop to try and grab the casual players who grab Wii Fit hoping for fitness... but Good Housekeeping? This is Wii Fit, not Wii Move Furniture.
