going on instinct on games?

Have you ever seen a video game, maybe even just a trailer for it or screenshots, and thought, "Man, that game is going to be good," and then it actually does turn out to be good? I don't mean obvious hits like Halo 3, God of War II, Mario, Metroid, etc. I mean more like games that have a pretty equal chance of being good or bad. Or they are games that are in a genre that you normally don't like, but these games in particular have something that catches your interest. I have a pretty good track record, myself.

Some of the games that I had this happen:
Tomb Raider Legends
Prey
Crackdown
Odin Sphere
Hotel Dusk Room 215
Beyond Good and Evil

Future games I think will be like that:
Heavenly Sword
Bioshock

I picked up Disgaea 2 just because it had some cool looking characters and looked like the story wasn't all that serious. Little did I know, I'd be spending a good 100 hours on this amazing RPG. :D

Yea Disgaea is a freakin awesome game even though the first one was already praised and it was just that much better

Yeah.

Like for me, I had never been a fan of Tomb Raider. But one day, I don't even remember where, but I just saw this really short trailer of Lara Croft dual wielding and doing some acrobatic stuff, and I was like "Hey that looks good!" And so I followed it up to its release and bought it. It was great. :)

I personally don't try to predict the overall success of a game. I try to stick with games that I think I will enjoy. And I have had pretty good success with that so far...

Symphony of the Night was one of those games for me. Hadn't heard much about it when I first saw it on the store shelf but something about it reached out and said, "Buy me! Buy me!" Was reading in Wikipedia the other day how the distributors had low expectations for the game just cuz it didn't follow the 3D trend. :lol I've been playing the Saturn version (Dracula X) the past few days and really digging all of that old familiar music.

I remember thinking that Spiderman 2 would be fun for PS2, but it wasnt. Which is wierd, cause i beat the Xbox version 3 times :lol
