Got my DS!

Thanks to Game Addiction, I got my DS finally. I'm pleased with it so far. Metroid Prime Hunters is tricky to get a handle on, at least for me using the stylus, but I'll get used to it. Mario 64 DS is a lot of fun, with vibrant and bright colors. It looks great for a handheld game. Once I get used to the stylus I should start making some progress.

My DS didn't have any dead pixels or anything, which I'm definitely thankful for. The new cart cases are way better than the old cardboard ones that Nintendo has been using for so long. I've always hated those cheap cardboard boxes, they crush so easily. These are a nice plastic stock. Props to Nintendo for giving the fans what they wanted in that regard. I look forward to playing some innovative new Nintendo titles on this in the near future. 8)

Still positive. I really like Ridge Racer DS. I think the system has a lot of potential, I am looking forward to seeing what developers do with the touch screen. Third party software is definitely needed right now, and Nintendo needs to get on the ball and release some killer aps. Mario 64 DS is okay, but they really need something NEW to make the DS a must buy. I'm pleased with the design so far, I just wish there were more killer games available.

so do you think RR DS looks a lot better than the pics show?

The stills don't do it justice.

DS stills just don't do the system justice.

I think RR DS looks way better in action. Unfortunately the controls are a little lacking later in the game, especially when you need them to be responsive. Some of the later races are extremely difficult, and it's nearly impossible for me to avoid slamming into the wall or other cars. The collision detection needs work too. I think games like this will get better with time, as developers have more lead time working on the DS hardware.

Well that's true with all hardware. Look at computers :lol

They started with text-based games and now we have 3D animated characters with eyelashes :D

EB.games had 1 Nintendo DS left & they said if I did not
pick it up the DS now that they would sell it to someone
else which is kinda stupid because if they did that I would
take back my GBA Sp w/ AC adaptor & 5 GBA games &
never deal with EB.games ever again if they did that. >:(

:) But I have it now & I totally love! it to piece's. :lol
Super Mario 64 DS is really fun but how do you get
to play as Mario though.? 8)

I hope more remake's come out like Mischief Makers. 8)
Plus new games too.

Hey guys. I didnt want to start a new topic, so I figured I would post here.

I want to get a DS. I have checked everything out and read a lot of articles on it.
What do you guys think of it so far? My only concern is the stylus. Im not sure Im going to like playing with it.
Any advice or responses will be appreciated...

I'd love to get a DS. But since I had to spend almost a grand on my wife's van to get it running again left me with no "videogame" money. But when I get it, I'll definately not get it at EB Games. I had a problem with them when I bought my PS2. In a nut shell they told me it was absolute garbage in an attempt to buy their warranty. The guy actually told me I was S.O.L if the console quit on me. Their service is worse than Walmart's!!!

Well can someone give me their opinion on the stylus for the ds. Im definitley thinking about buying one but Im a little skeptical about the stylus.

Well if you used a PDA or something else with a stylus then you pretty much know how it goes. What exactly is it that you're skeptical about?

well what I wanted to know was....

Do all the games require the stylus to be used? Like I know Mario doesnt use one at all, but what about the other games.

Nah, not every game needs it

I know Mr. Driller doesnt need it...but optional

Ridge Racer you can drive with the D-pad

Dunno what else

All of the games "require" the stylus at one point or another. It depends on the developers and when they want you to use it. Like for instance in mario DS, you use the stylus for all the mini-games, but isnt necessary for the actual story mode. It all depends.

oh ok, that clears things up. I didnt know that they all used it. Well Im definitley thinking about getting one. I will let you guys know what happens.

Well my sister got a DS and thanfully she has been letting me play every once in a while. I made my own file on Mario 64. Its a lot of fun IMO. I really want a DS now. :) I cant wait for Mario Kart to come out too. Im really excited about all the new games coming out for the DS. My friend has a PsP and he is thinking about getting a DS now. I hope he does, then if I get mine we can play some muli player :)

Any one else planning on getting a DS?
