Gran Turismo On PSP

Looks like the PSP is packing some punch under the hood as it takes on Gran Turismo 4.
According to an interview with Director Kazunori Yamauchi on Sony's Japanese PlayStation site, the upcoming Gran Turismo 4 for the PSP will be a near direct translation of the PlayStation 2 title. Mr. Yamauchi stated that due to the processing power of the PSP, which can be compared to the PlayStation 2, Gran Turismo 4 and other games could nearly be a direct port over to Sony's new handheld.
When asked why Sony had decided to port the PlayStation 2 version of Gran Turismo 4 over to the PSP, Mr. Yamauchi stated that production costs for a PSP-only title would be prohibitive, thereby creating a situation where the PSP game cost would be too high. He also stated that the developer for the PSP version of Gran Turismo 4, Polyphony, would be better able to utilize their resources if they took advantage of the readily available work already completed on the PlayStation 2 version of the game.
Mr. Yamauchi stated that the release date for the PlayStation 2 version of Gran Turismo 4 is still set in 2004. However, Mr. Yamauchi did not reveal a specific date for this hotly anticipated title. source: success-hk.com

what happened to them stating "we are doing no ports?"
Also, something in me (gut reaction) says that the graphics will not be that good.

Yeah BV, I was wondering the same thing, actually. I still don't get how they criticize Nintendo for porting SNES games (and several years later, no less, when they'll actually be introduced to a new crowd) and then turn around and port PSone and PS2 games (which are still recent). There's a lot of great SNES games I never got to play and so I look forward to those. But I don't even like a lot of PSone and PS2 games on their respective systems, so it's hard to be excited for ports of those.

Beavis and Butthead!! i know stupid game but was still fun! :D

There's a lot of really cool SNES games and would make some cool ports, think Donkey Kong that came out for gameboy color that was a port but was done RIGHT and looked awesome.

there is just something that is not right....

and honestly, I just don't see the PSP having THAT good of graphics....
but I loved many of the snes ports... and IMO its great that they ported those games. Who doesn't want hand held games from the snes time? its awesome!

but.... really.... I want to see and play a PSP (final release) and see exactly what they are making. 1st I am worried that the screen will not be crisp. I do not like LCD displays. Why? I have an VERY nice IBM laptop with an LCD display.... but some of the colors are off. Samething with my old Dell laptop. Same thing with the flat panel displays we have at work. LCD is not all its cracked up to be yet. I am really wondering how crisp the screen will be (or if its as crisp as they say).

that is another problem.

Your LCD monitors..... have you tried working with graphics on them?

or gone from a CRT with Starcraft to LCD of starcraft?
I have a 128 meg Fire GL2 ATi graphics card in my laptop, and an ATI all in wonder pro 9700 128 meg in my desktop.
My desktop has a CRT monitor.

At work, the LCD's I am talking about are $2700-3500 lcd monitors... and they are nice.
Now... the new NEC LCD's might be nicer.

But laptop LCD's, and other LCD's can have washed out looks, many have off colors, and other problems as well.

Its just the nature of LCD.
