Halo Wars

You should be. Considering it's made by those who made Age of Empires, a very sucessful RTS and still rather popular, you'd expect the same quality (but better) to be employed when they produce this. Halo Wars, if it really does satisfy all the ype about it, may just be the best RTS for the year.

I thought that was... wait.. maybe Halo Wars was 2009???... Hm... ARGH!!!! MENTAL BLOCK!!!!.... well, if they're both commin' out, Halo Wars has got alot of competition to beat Starcraft 2, one of the most anticipated RTS's since Starcraft came out.

If HW and SC2 come out around the same time HW will be meaningless to the RTS community you can quote me on that one
True. BUT, if they are playing it smart then Halo Wars will be released a a different period to Star Craft. Anyway, last I heard (this is mentioned somewhere on Page 2 of this thread I think), Halo Wars is exclusive to the 360' itself, so competition may not go as you'd think at first. Instead, it may beneift both parties since Star Craft 2 is going to be set on the good 'ol PC. So they'll likely be taking hold in their own Sytem feild, rather than being an even larger commercial opponent due to them being both on the PC for example.

I dont think RTS fans are going to buy Halo Wars. I think that Halo fans will buy Halo Wars.

Omduud... That's freakin badass.

6 player online coop sounds fun. I'm not sure how that would work out though. Each person gets to start their own assembly and such and meet up at a certain part of the map? I would think it would get hectic if you're trying to build something, then another player stops production on that and cancels it so he/she can use the money/ore/crystals/whatever to make their building.

But that would make starategical benefits to the gameplay, giving it a further in depth look to how, say real-time miltary Generals would have to co-operate to prepare for he battle ahead, rather than working single-handedly with the decision to make heir own weapons and help an ally or even an enemy. It forces people to unite under one, like with a co-operative campaign. Though I guess that would make some disputes between where to go as there'd end up being a player who wishes to command the rest. Goodbye to those who play it solo.
In repsecs to a player cancelling something big to build their own desires, in all previous RTS's that use a shared resource, each player has their own counter and gained res is divided equally between the players of that team. But in these cases, an option to urn of Shared resources is available in the lobby and can be set as such by the host. A similar option is available in Star Wars: Battlegrounds.

New update. "What you need to know" about Halo Wars
From his review, that theory on shared resources seems to be their logical expectartion for online play. It'll make things easier for each player to incorporate their own economic growth and military might as they prepare (generally in unison wih their team-members) to bring down the enemy forces and succeed in glroious victory!

As an add on comment... those screenshots look pretty awesome! I'm mostly stocked for he part where I get to drive my Warthog, upraged wih a Gauss cannon in a greivous atempt to bring down a Scarab while a bunch of wraiths and gruns attempt to pound down on the marine faction moving past as safely as possible, avoiding as much of he scarabs angry plasma burts as they can!

Anyone call for a Scorpion Tank??? BURN BABY, BURN!!!! :rockin
