Happy Birthday GameBoy! 20 years old today!

Segatron Genesis... call me the wizard.
That's right, April 21st 1989 was the launch of the Nintendo GameBoy! Gunpei Yokoi's most successful project he ever invented. He was the father of "Kid Icarus", "Wario", and "Metroid". Plus this wasn't the first portable device he was famous for, he put Nintendo on the map with his line of portable, "GAME & WATCH" devices.

This man, is to thank for the success of Tetris in portable form and the massive success of Pokemon.

Sadly, Mr. Gunpei Yokoi was killed in a car wreck circa 1999, his final project was the Nintendo Virtual Boy.

So to salute Mr. Gunpei Yokoi and his beloved Nintendo GameBoy, Happy 20th Birthday!
 
For some reason I did not see this when it was posted. But I thought that Gunpei Yokoi final project was for Bandai and it was called the Wonder Swan. :)

Ah... I may not have been about for the first handheld systems, but I have been there when the Game Boy pocket arrived, and man, good times, very good times. Made car rides all that much more enjoyable.

That's true as well. Bandai really should have stuck with their guns, the Bandai Wonderswan Color was so awesome.
 
I'll never forget how awesome it was when I got my very first Gameboy. Even to this day I still love the design of the original Gameboy.
 
I have recently been playing on my Game boy pocket. I have even went on eBay this past weekend and purchased a few "buy-it-now" games for it. :)
