Harmonix biggest complaint about Rock Band on Wii. It needs a Hard Drive in order to us the DLC! I totally agree!

i totally disagree >_> (if it gets a hard drive i would need to buy a new one) why can we put N64 games but not song into it??? that's harmonix own problem

I completely agree with this. There is way too little room on the internal memory. You might as well not even have SD cards considering you can't use them as a primary memory source.

Yeah, good idea for sure! Maybe they could make them in card form, and they could redesign the Wii so it has a slot on the front of the console for them! ;D

it would make life easier but i don't think is SUPER NECESARY

Oh yes it is. N64 titles are not as big as a Rock Band song. First of all, you have to compress the sound which can easily take up megabytes, which you only have 512. Second, for those who don't know, you only have half of the 512 MB available to the user. Meaning you only have around 256 MB to use.

One Rock Band song is way bigger than any N64 title. I can guarantee it. Not to mention, Harmonix releases songs almost weekly. There is no way the 512 MB can keep up especially when you have save files and VC games saved in there as well.

very true but why can't they do like brawl?? download the songs to the SD cards?? (thank you hines for the idea..by the way not being sarcastic here), you can use as many as you want and i think it is a bit cheaper than a hard drive.... but i might be mistaken

Do you realize how quickly you would go through the SD Cards as well? That's actually another problem too. Currently you can only use SD Cards to transfer files. You can't play off of them or load games directly from them. This would definitely help a little bit, but it would be more convenient and cheaper to buy a hard drive than a bunch of SD Cards. I mean if you're already going to spend money on SD Cards, you might as well just get a hard drive.

Not even close to being cheaper. Solid State memory is far more expensive per GB than Hard Disk Drives.

Rock Band's DLC is pretty large, if you've ever checked it out. It's not just a music file... it's the drum music file, vocal music file, bass music file, guitar music file and sometimes a rhythm guitar music file... then there's the actual charts for each of them from beginner to Expert... then there's the stage effects, the lipsynching of the lead singer, the animations (not all of them but each song has its stuff), etc.

It's more than you'd think... after checking again, the smallest song I could find was 14mb, and the largest was 62mb. and Wii's 512mb flash memory isn't going to cut it. N64 games are very small in comparison, and they cost more which is why they're okay with the Flash memory for it.
