Neo Geo CD Harware CD Z

I think it's more an issue of seek time. If the ram only allowed room for one sector, you would have to wait until the NGCD cleared the RAM, and then wait until the next sector spun back under the laser.

If you doubled the ram, you would reduce the number of waits for the sector to spin under the laser.

The transfer time from CD RAM to internal ram is almost definately way less than the seek time of one setor.
exactly.

Except would that explain the shorter initial load time (when first firing up the game)?

Yeah. Again, it's reading more sectors at a time, cutting the seek time in half (using the above example). But, you would only see a 50% reduction under ideal conditions.

One thing is for certain that I think we can all agree on...it loads the games pretty much twice as fast as the top loader does...thats all that really matters eh? :lol

:lol  I guess thats true :)

BUT... I have some information coming from SNK pretty soon regarding systems, releases..etc.

we'll see exactly what we get but here is what I asked for... if it was possible:
1.)  A Neo CD games list with what games came out (US)  and what came out in (Japan).
2.)  Neo Geo CDZ  AND Frontloader system specs.   No one seems to know these... and the information doesn't seem to be out there.

Other Questions, if you have time:
3.) What regions have a version of their Neo CD?  I have seen a US, Japanese, PAL, and Brazillian systems.....  Just curious if there are anymore.
4.)  AND would you happen to have production #'s of the different systems, and games?
