Really? That's weird. It hardly ever happens with modern games and consoles. The last time I can think of was with Morrowind on Xbox and it's because the Xbox overheated.

Unreal Tournament 3 was freezing on me. I think the problem was an out of date Soundblaster X-fi driver. I believe the issue is resolved now though after a driver update.

PC games yes, but thats mostly due to the OS being shifty.

console games rarely if ever (GT3/GT4 did on me oddly...and i can recall some other ones for PS2). but mostly just blue (or green or black) screen stuff on NES/SNES/N64 games.

One game that I can't get past a certain point is FFVIII, I can't get past the opening cutscene (maybe 1/15 tries it'll make it, very very rarely though).

That's so weird! My FF8 used to do that same thing, exactly. I got the disc professionally buffed and it still did it. It wasn't until I took my PS2 apart and cleaned the lens that it worked flawlessly.

FF8's disc back in the day were always the most challenging to fix. Next to GTA3 and GTA Vice City especially.

Playstation 3 games over at friends house...i think it was...Killzone 2.
