What's it like?

It sounds like a lotta fun!
Are they exclusive to video games,or combined with others like "Magic The Gathering"?do they give away free stuff?have contests?

If you worked in video game retail you could get in for free.

Now, they even changed that, and it's only open to the media (and game companies, obviously).

They reopened it to the public after 2008's "media only" E3 paled in comparison to German Games Convention and Tokyo Game Show. I don't know how they now define "public" though, so that might change things.

I've never been to a game convention, but I desperately want to go to PAX. I am fairly certain I will, within the next five years, attend at least one PAX.
 
Yeah I remember those days, the weaker employees would stay behind while the bosses went to the show. I always wanted to go. My brother back in 1992 went to the Nintendo Powerfest n 92' in Dallas. Which pre-dates the E3 of course, he never told me anything about it sadly.
