Heavenly Sword discussion (including reviews)

Re: First 10 for Heavenly Sword

Great, do it. Anyways. Still nothing on if it has something to keep you playing? Collectibles, hidden crap? Anyway to go back to another area?

Re: First 10 for Heavenly Sword

We'll all see when Heavenly Sword finally comes out. :)

If that was directed towards the God of War games, there's tons of stuff to unlock.

IGN has its review of Heavenly Sword up.

They gave it a 7 out of 10.

9.0 Presentation
The cutscene work is fantastic, as are the extras (even though you can get most of them freely online).

9.0 Graphics
Beautiful in every respect. Character models are great, and the vistas are a-plenty.

9.0 Sound
Sound effects are fantastic as is the music and voice work.

7.0 Gameplay
The combat system is mostly very good, though the battles get repetitive very quickly and some of the extra stuff (like the button matching mini-games) needed more polish.

5.0 Lasting Appeal
The experience is over fairly quickly. There are a number of really good unlockables to go back and earn, though you can already get them online right now.

There's my lasting appeal proof. Can I have my medal now, please?

That sucks. :-\

Well, maybe IGN is just stupid...although, I think I trust them more than Play magazine.

I also think IGN is more credible than Play. Are there other reviews up yet? I'm curious as to how it will do on GameRankings.

That's it as of last night.

You never know, though, IGN's review could be off compared to the others.

Lets see... Play gave Odin Sphere a ten, Lair a nine, Sonic the Hedgehog an 8.5.... Yeah, no.

Scores from EGM.

8.0 (from Matt)
8.0 (from G. Ford)
9.0 (from Shane)

The Good: Gorgeous graphics, well-used tilt controls
The Bad: It's over pretty quickly
Jumping: Some developers think it's a good idea

No jumping? No hitting someone into the air and jumping after them to perform a quick air blade three-hit combo before throwing them to the ground!? Im not going within 30 feet of that game.

well does the game have difficulty levels? because i don't think it would e over quickly in hard mode

or difficulty (twilight princess , super paper mario), but it suprise me something, the blue ray have great capacity righ? then why the developers don't use it?

Developers are still getting used to it.

About it being bad because of length....that's almost a worn out excuse to throw something negative at almost every adventure game. Action/Adventure games just aren't meant to span over 30 - 40 hours of game play in one run-through. If they did, they would more or less become RPG's.

Just because there's a lot of space on a Blu-Ray dsic doesn't mean developers should extend the game, unnecessarily. Lengthening a game like that lowers the quality of the game as a whole IMO.
