HL2 preloading!

no official release date but phase 3 of the preloading completed last night....it will definitly be released by september 30th
 
I wonder how good the game will be.

I know that sounds weird, but you never know anymore which games are hits and flops.. and which ones are GREAT to play!

I've never played the original HL, but I think this one just looks completely amazing. I think I might have to look into it (hopefully there's a demo, those are always helpful).
 
HL2 will be pretty good at supporting older vid cards although it wont look as good....and BV how can you doubt HL2? :P games like HL2, you know will be great, they only delayed it what, 10 times?

trkorecky, HL2 will ship with the original HL (they added physics and such to it) so you should play that first before you play HL2
 
Ahh, well that sounds like a plan. I saw a movie of someone who beat the original HL in 45 minutes. Impressive stuff there in that vid.
 
I had problems with HL 1.

They had a lot of glitches in the game. The game would crash on me a number of times for sound/graphic glitches....

Basically at some points the game wouldn't auto save...... etc

I mean, it was a fun and ABSOLUTELY great game. I loved it (still do). But at the same time.... it got frustrating when my save file would corrupt. There are VERY few games I have trouble with and I know this one had glitches up the wazoooooo.

I wonder what the mods will be like for HL 2 :D

AND.... at the same time..... I wonder how my computer wil fair with #2. I have a P4, 2.4 Ghz, 128 meg ATI All in wonder pro 9700, 1 gig ram, 100 gig free (on my games hard drive)... etc..etc..etc. I wonder if I can run it at full graphics. I don't see why not.
Maybe I need to upgrade to 4 gig of ram :D and a 256 meg ATI Fire GL :lol ($800-1200 in just that graphics card though... )

After 1 gig of ram, the performance increase is barely noticable.

Fire GL is made for the 3D animators, and not really designed for gaming.
 
Counterstrike 2 comes with HL2 I believe. Something like that. I also heard you can pay a small fee for a service giving you instant access to the newest mods and stuff.
 
Is the regular edition of HL2 including HL1? Or only the special (limited, hardcore gamer's, different, whatever they decided to call it) edition?

I know there's talk about the special edition and the only thing I remember seeing in the package is HL2 and a t-shirt. Hey, I wasn't awake when I read it, I just know it's there.

Steam's that online thing that you dl the stuff and it's only kept in cache or something?

I'd rather just get the Special DVD edition, if I get it at all, even though some of the "Gold" Steam benefits look enticing... :D

That would've been my plan anyway, since I have no credit card with which to purchase the "Gold" edition from Steam.
 
But if I get the DVD edition, Steam's only for online play right? So I wouldn't have to pay anything after buying the DVD edition?
 
CSS has been released, HL2 currently has no release date, to aquire CSS you have to preorder HL2.....i have CSS and lemme say.......IT ROX! :woot
