Hosting service

What's a good and reliable hosting service? I might want to start my own board or something. Any suggestions?

I once had a man whom I thought I could trust with hosting. I had a gaming website which received a decent amount of hits for the status of our website. This was Solinari Gaming. A long time ago - years.

I trusted this man and thought for certain he would be a good one. However, in the end, the server and host computers crashed and I was left a broken man.

Off topic, but related!

yes... and this speaks a lot with "always backup"  and "you need reliable hosting."  Unless the content is worthless and all...
Not all hosts have 99.9% up time as they state.  My host is rather expensive compared to others... but they are very reliable... and I trust them with my site.  They have a very nice facility.  No... I've never seen it... except the diagrams...etc... on their website.

I made the mistake of not backing up once...  and we lost everything on egameaddiction.com due to the web virus going around.  I forget what virus that was now.... very popular virus back in 2001.  Affected TONS of websites.  I learned my lesson of backing up :lol  It would SUCK to lose everything now...   I think I would pass out...  I couldn't imagine.

No Im not starting up a car forum, its just for fun. That link you posted doesn't have prices or anything for hosting and I have no clue where to look for that. Any other suggestions?

It REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY depends on what you need.. why don't you let me know exactly what you need (space, database space, and what type of stuff are you doing) and I'll be more than happy to help you out finding a solution :)

I think you have to contact lewis media for a quote... although I remember seeing pricing on their site.

I want like 1GB of space with a decent bandwidth. Its basically going to be used for the board and maybe upload a couple of files, basically it.

contact lewis media for a quote... They do a good job.

I don't think you can really find anything decent under $15 per month though. or... maybe $120 per year.

I've heard this place is decent... http://www.prohosters.com/

Edit: Im looking for something that I can do a one time payment for like a yr, I dont need another monthly bill.

From what I've read at a few webdev forums I've surfed around... http://hostgator.com/shared.shtml is suppose to be decent. Might want to check that out.

most places offer a yearly payment.

and no.. the plans are on servers :lol ALL hosting plans are on a server. You won't get your own server for less than $100 per month I believe. Anyhoo... those 2 are good for hosting... try Pliknons...

Man..those prices are expensives! I'd have to register a new domain and everything! I did a little pre-total thing and I came up with $98/yrly.
