How do video game mags figure out game codes?

sorry I dont have an answer, but I was wondering that too. How are any cheats or codes figured out?
 
Hmm I didnt know that. I always thought there was a way that they could use computers to figure out codes that would work, I dunno. :)
 
What about the individuals that send in certain codes and get prizes for it...how on earth would you go about doing that!? I wouldn't think you could have much of a life to do that very often.
 
Ya, I think its a combination of game developers giving them away, and reader's sending them in. If not, they could just get them off the internet easy enough.

Any where you can get the codes, other mags, word of mouth, the internet ::)
 
i've heard similar. publisher gives them out, or people somehow find them
the ones found probably are ones used in the past

How is that a bummer? If we had to wait for them to figure them out, very few games would ever have codes released.
