How does the gamecube compare to Xbox and PS2

One facet? At least 90% of the game is played through the 1st-person. I'd say that "one facet" is a fairly overwhelming one.

I was talking about the shooting, not the camera.

I'll reply in full tomorrow when I get back.

I have stated many times that MP does some things differently than traditional FPS's, but it's still a first-person shooter. Just because you can jump and solve puzzles in it doesn't mean it's not an FPS.

You are all both right actually.... see my post above :p

Anyway.... 1/2 of it is a FPS style game.... but a lot of the game is played in the 3rd person perspective.

You are all right.

At this point I'd be willing to agree to a truce :lol. Argueing this again is tiresome as its just repeating the same points over and over again.

Basically you feel that MP was different enough to be classified under a different genre than FPS.

I think that the genre still encompases games that are as different as MP.

I don't think you can change my mind or vice versa, but if you want to get that last post in we can still debate it.

well.... 90% of the game is not FPS. though.. A lot has to be played in the morph ball.... IE gravitating.... bomb jumping...etc.

It is an 3rd/1st persion game. 1st perspective has the most time, but 3rd person has a lot of time as well.

meh. :lol

Well every FPS has some kind of 3rd person element in it, whether its in a vehicle or something like that.

When I played through MP I found it was at least 90% First-person, but I also did a ton of backtracking in that game, probably more so than most. Puzzles in that game just weren't obvious to me at all, I'd have to backtrack three or four times before what I was supposed to do became apparent.

Either way, I still say its an FPS, lol.

Nah, I won't bother with another post on it. I've said pretty much all I need to say on the subject.

One last comment though..you'll see as the trend of blending genres continues that the need for new ones will become more apparent.

But on this one, we can agree to disagree.
