How Many Video Game "Knock-Offs" Can You List?

I'm confused.

What do you mean, video game knock-offs? Like, TV shows that came about from plots and characters in video games, or like, mediums that employ some sort of visual game?

I'm thinking games that were produced as imitations to more popular games. Kind of like Bible Stories for the NES, and how it played almost exactly like A Link to the Past. If that's the case, then the answer is lots.

I still think God of War is a rip off of Rygar even though God of War was more popular. >:(

Oh, I see. Duh... ::D :lol

I always say Gears of War was a rip-off of Winback: Covert Operations on the N64. Winback was more of a puzzle game with action elements, whereas Gears of War is an action game with... big guns, I guess, haha. Winback did the single button cover mechanic way before Cliffy B. decided he no longer wanted to be called Cliffy B.

Saying this with all the love in my heart ... I still think that Tales of Symphonia is a semi-knockoff of Final Fantasy X.
A sweet young girl is the chosen one who travels from temple to temple to help prevent the end of the world (which comes every few years) only to find that she is really supposed to die at the end of this trip (which no one tells the hero until much later). Add to this two fake churches (Martel and Yevon) and the similarities were very close.
But I don't care because I love them both, and the stories end up diverging quite a bit. So I guess it feels more like one was inspired by the other rather than stolen.

i honestly laugh at that XD it makes it look like tales of symphonia was satiring FFX but at least the game stops doing so after certain point

Well actually the person who made Tales of Symphonia said that it was specifically made to make fun of FFX. But then it was also supposed to veer off and have its own story. ^_^

okami is a knock-off of zelda.... BUT I FREAKING LOVE OKAMI 10 TIMES MORE THAN ANY ZELDA :D

Then it definitely achieved what it set out to do. They're both great!
