I cannot believe this

I just need to see if my motherboard will support a newer 3 Ghz hyperthreading processor and another 512 mb card...

Depends how old it is. Ill bet you do need one since a lot of the pentiums with hyperthreading need certain MOBOs.

I have always had a hard time getting PC games to wrok for me. I mean, there are some great games I love to play, like Counter-Strike and whatever, but they just never work for me.

For a couple years I had THE weakest computer. It had 3 Gigs of HD space, 128 MB of RAM, and the weakest video card you have ever seen. On top of that, no internet. I was in pain.

But I got a new computer thats decent. it won't play extremely high end games, but I can play Call of Duty 2 and stuff. Right now I'm looking to build my own computer and am looking around for the best stuff I can buy for cheap, whether at a store or online. Unfortunately, I'm not a guru on hardware, so if there happens to be any specific brand that works good, let me know. Thanks.

I'm saving to build a new computer for myself, in preparation for DDO, Vanguard and W.A.R... My plan was to base the system around the best 64-bit AMD processor I could afford, with an nVidia PCI-E video card. But from some of the posts above mine, it sounds like 64-bit might be problematic with current and older games. Is this something I should be concerned about? Or should I just forge ahead, pocketbook be damned?

You will only have problems if you use a 64-bit OS. Otherwise if you intend to you use XP then you should be fine for your current and older games. Quick question, do these new games require 64-bit OS's?

I have yet to see a game that requires a 64-bit OS. They are certainly coming someday, but probably not until Vista (or whatever they're calling the next version of Windows nowadays) comes out, and is stable.

Well then you have nothing to worry about if you install XP.
