I don't understand!!! (xb360 issue)

Someone here has got to have an answer! I'm desperate. And irritated. Grrr. Anyway, here's the story.

Earlier today I was playing my XBOX 360 and it was hooked up to the internet via a wireless network adapter. I was on XBLive with no problems. I turn it off as normal to go to work.

I come home and want to get online again. The 360 is saying that there is no wireless network. At all. I reboot the 360 and make sure everything is plugged in. It still says there is no wireless network.

I try out my Wii to see if it will work. No problem. I'm even able to check out the Wii Shop.

I don't understand how the hell my 360 worked earlier and is now not working when it's in the same exact place as it was earlier, and when the Wii which is not even a foot away from the 360 works just fine. WTF!!!!!

You might have to redo the passcode to your computer's wireless internet. It did that with my friend's 360. Did you unplug your 360 at all? I know it does that when it's unplugged as well.

Well here's the thing that puzzles me. When I first set up the 360 with the wireless adapter, it played right away. I didn't have to set any settings. It autoconfigured. My best friend also had his 360 here and we were both playing wirelessly; I was in the computer room and he was in the bedroom. No problems for either of us.

I moved my 360 into the bedroom. It worked fine. I didn't have to change any settings. I turned the system on and logged onto XBOX Live without a problem.

This morning, I did the same thing. Turned on the XBOX 360, logged onto XBOX Live, and played Final Fantasy XI for about an hour. I logged out of XBL, turned off my 360, and went to work.

Now, inbetween noon and 11 pm, I didn't touch the 360 at all because I was at work. I came home and turned on the 360 and tried to log onto XBL. My 360 said there is no wireless network. It is not picking up any wireless signals. My Wii, however, picks it up just fine.

I guess it could be that the 360 wireless adapter is defective, but I still don't get how it worked earlier today and is not working now. I'm 100% certain that nothing changed in between when I played earlier today and when I tried to play again at 11. It's possible that someone might have messed with some settings, but then again...wouldn't the Wii not recognize the wireless network either if that was the case?

So now I'm left with the conclusion that the 360's adapter just sucks at recognizing a wireless network or that my wireless network adapter is defective. I'll have to hook my 360 up to the router with an ethernet cable to be sure, though.

I read once about a problem some law enforcement officers are having about what they call "dead space" in the bandwith of their radios. The new style radios that they use are nothing like the old ones. They transmit location as well as badge number so dispatch can identify the calls better. Anyway, they often complain about dead space. Usually it's caused by interference from the simplest of things like cell phones or microwave ovens. It could be possible that you are experiencing this same dead space. Do you live in an appartment? Somene else could have a wireless computer setup and is interfering with your connection.

As far as the Wii working and the 360 not, it could mean that the 360 is more sensetive to these "dead spots" than the Wii is. But I can only speculate...

Wireless is very finicky. It is possible something is just blocking the signal like Dart said. When I played on my DS just being in different parts of my small room made the biggest difference in the world.
