Man, I had this great post all typed up and then the forum went down for maintenance.
Well I think I will try to repeat the gist anyway.
No offense s_t but to me this just looks like you are joining those legions of mainstream gamers who mistakenly believe that a game is only good if it's "cool," and that it's only "cool" if it has guns and/or blood. Or if it's rated M. Or just generally made by any company other than the "kiddy" Nintendo.
To which I can only reply:
It's not the games that need to be more mature, it's the gamers. Some gamers need to realize that maturity is not based on playing M-rated titles. You can be just as childish and immature as a person whether you play Pokemon or Silent Hill.
The M-rating is based on possibly objectionable content in a game and not the state of mind of those who play it. (If you notice, there's just as many little kids who want to be cool playing M-rated games as there are adults playing M-rated games). If some gamers would realize this, problem solved.
There's nothing wrong with Nintendo making games that feature an E-rating, which simply means the content within them is suitable for everyone and that is all it means. It's kind of like a PG-13 movie like Shrek 2, where it's supposedly aimed at kids and yet a lot of adults enjoy it as well (and honestly, what kid watching Shrek 2 is old enough to get the OJ Simpson reference they make?).
Nintendo should continue making the great games that put them on the map and not bend to support the closed-minded who only buy games according to the rating and what their buds think about it.

Honestly, could they have made it any sissier!? Make them soldiers, or some kind of intimidating animals, or just give the pikmin guns or swords, anything!
