IGN Reviews "Assassin's Creed"

blacklemons

The Freeman
8.0 Presentation
The historical setting is brilliantly recreated. The story is slow-paced and has some uninspired elements.

8.0
Graphics
The word is beautiful except for the pop-in and troublesome framerate issues. The animations are top-notch, but tough to enjoy with slowdown.

7.5 Sound
Every voice actor is fantastic save one -- the lead actor. The ambient noise could have been a lot stronger.

7.5 Gameplay
Go anywhere and kill anyone. These are Creed's strong points. The game gets bogged down in repetitive tasks too often.

7.0 Lasting Appeal
It could take anywhere from 10-15 hours to complete depending on how thoroughly you explore the world. There's no reason to come back for seconds.

7.5
Good OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

it has severe repetition issues and is a bore to play

they say its "in the top five most dissapointing games of all time"

so, to whoever is buying this, enjoy :lol

Indeed I will, considering GI, GamePro, and gametrailers have all given it great reviews. 1UP has a similar review to IGN though.

EDIT: http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/assassinscreed/review.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=gssummary&tag=summary;review

Gamespot loved the game too.

wow that turns me off... I may be the only one on here that may respect IGN... rental i guess

Yes, strubes, I know they are reliable, and a high name in the industry. and I also know that they tell their honest opinion on games, you dont have to tell me, i get it

I'm just saying, you're one in a million when it comes to trusting them. IGN's like the Uwe Boll or Jack Thompson of video game sites. :lol

It's been getting good reviews so far. I guess it's not living up to the huge hype, but it still looks like quite a game.

:lol LMAO at the TC for quoting IGN! That and not even trying the game out before "slamming" it. Way to cheat yourself out of a great gaming experience! :lol

If IGN had given it a better score, I'm sure no one would mind Hines posting IGN's review. ::) I love how people love IGN when they agree with the score, but hate IGN when IGN's score is not what they had hoped. I'm not saying you guys are like that...but just because you don't agree with IGN's score doesn't mean that they aren't a credible site. It just means what any differing review from any site means...you and the person who did the review have different tastes.

There's no need to flame Hines just because he's trying to start a discussion by posting one review. If you really have a problem with it, post a review from another website! :lol

Mai...ur a mod...and you're not seeing the borderline between flaming and posting an opinion. Come on. I thought you were better than that.

a new guy flaming me

never fails

Um.....yeah.

I wasn't referring to you, Strubes, but either way, Hines was the one who brought it up.

My point still stands.

Whether it be IGN, GameSpot, joystiq, 1up, etc. just because a person doesn't agree with IGN/GS/joystiq/1up's score doesn't mean that those aren't credible sites. It just means what any differing review from any site means...you and the person who did the review have different opinions. ;)

IGN wasn't the only site to give Assassin's Creed a lower score. Assassin's Creed's reviews are all above average but some fall in the 9 range while others fall in the 7 range.

IGN 7.5/10
GamePro 5/5
Game Informer 9.5/10
Gametrailers 9.1/10
1UP 7/10
TeamXbox 7.9/10
GameSpot 9/10
GameSpy 3.5/5

But as always, it's best just to play the game and see for yourself whether you like it or not. :)

Really? Looking at Mai's post, I don't see anything borderline flaming. :/ She even said she isn't talking about you guys.

I don't think you get what I was talking about... :lol

Ok, looking at your first post, you said Mai didn't flame. I don't know where you got this from. I was questioning her sense of if she knew the difference between flaming and voicing an opinion on this site, which is all I did. :)

Ohh, so you're not saying that SHE flamed; rather, you're saying that she was mistaking a flame in this topic for an opinion.

Yeah, it's averaging like low to mid 8's. Still worth buying though. People talk like getting a 7 or an 8 is a bad thing. Sure, Assassin's Creed getting a lower score is a disappointment because expectations were so high for it, but is it really that bad of a game?
