Well I think it's just natural that after 4 years a system that got a lot of use would die out. These are systems with way more working parts than the old systems, after all. I mean I have a NES that still works, but then again it's older technology. I wouldn't expect a Gamecube to still work after 5 years, much less 15+ like the NES. And you probably used yours a lot during the heyday of SSBM. My GC still works but I only got it in 2002, and I have spent less time playing it.
