Immediate Criticisms

But will the free online play be as good as XBL? XBL provides 24 hour support, free patches, universal friends list, universal (although odd) messanging and invitation system, plus lots of other things. Like leaderboards, clans, voice communication. I would say free downloads, but some cost to download, but the majority are 100% free.

We'll have to wait in see. I have some faith in Nintendo. As long as I can play others online then thats enough for me. Especially if its free. Its nice too have all those things. But I probably wouldnt use most of them anyway.

I'm confused what monthly fees are you talking about?? I have XBL and I don't have to pay a monthly fee. Plus I doubt Nintendo's online service will be as good as XBL if anything it'll probably end up like PS2 online. Which is pretty much crap. I'm only assuming this because it is free and after all you will probably get what you pay for.
The price of a game is $50. An annual subscription to XBL is $50 :o. I just thought if you can't afford a year of XBL then you probably can't afford to buy one game a year either. Come on how can you complain about having to pay $4 a month to play online?

I guess you didnt read my whole post, cuz I said that sometimes you do. Some games do require monthly fees. And you're right, if I cant afford XBL then I probably cant buy another game. But you said that I shouldnt be playing games altogether. Although I can afford XBL I dont feel like buying it. Thats a different story. I have faith in Nintendo that there service wont be crap. It wont have all the nice features as some other services but as long as im able to play others without getting kicked off or have my game interrupted then thats all I need.

I know the monthly fees are $6, but I meant if you pay the $50 for a year it's like you're paying $4 a month. What games on XBL require you to pay a monthly fee? I have not heard of any games on XBL that require a monthly fee.

I do not think any other games require an extra fee, however, there is nothing stopping other companies from charging extra to my knowledge.

Yeah, but how many companies will be willing to do that. If they charged a monthly few I can guarantee you the game will not be successful. Most companies understand that and will not force anyone unless it is a MMO game or something.

All the "free" parts of XBL are completely useless, or, you would use them once out of novelty and never use them again.

I've played games online on the PS2 and the Xbox, and although XBL is a much better service, there's nothing wrong with the PS2 online set up. Free online isn't bad, its just not as good as XBL, but the price is right.

Personally I would rather pay for exceptional service than take crappy service for free. Not every free part of XBL for Xbox 360 is useless. Is being able to download demos and game patches for free useless?Nope. Is voice chat and IM useless? yup it is, but it's free so who cares.  When you pay for it you get too many perks that I just can't resist like all games support voice chat, friends list so you know when they are on/offline(actually I think that's free, but who cares), faster servers, better online games because online service is fully supported, and so on. You get all this for only $50 annually. Come one how can anyone complain about that?

But we dont know if its crappy service yet. I understand your point. I would rather pay for better service also. But as for myself I can live without all those features. Just give me free service that works and ill be fine.
