I'm looking into getting one, I'm waiting to save up some cash for a PC and also for the technophiles to get some experience with them to advise me on what to do :lol
Man. Here I am looking into 775 boards and there's already a new socket!?! Seems like just yesterday the C2D came out and was all the rage. Technology moves fast!
Amen! From what I have seen, the i7's are very powerful, but it depends a lot on the game you are playing. Some older games don't use its capabilities well, but the games that do are performing better than processors that are A LOT more expensive.
Actually, even though I have a Q6600 / 2GB of RAM; I am still using the Athlon 64 X2 4800 just because it's on the other endof the desk and has the programs i want installed.
I'm waiting for this Sandy Bridge 8-core CPU next year and am skipping Dunnington core (6 core), because what can 6 do that Q6600 can't. My PCs are on 14 hrs out of day so any encoding will get done eventually.
IT is possible to run every game out this year to 2010 on my Athlon 64 X2 or Core 2 Quad Q6600. Intel I7 and Dunnington variant are nice for the rich.
I am middle class so I actually wait 2 years to upgrade....it used to be 2 1/2 years BTW. People who wait 3 years to buy something new are very resistant to propaganda. I am only human however... Stores like me.
